Foreword [IFOREWARD] Hello, and welcome to my Lunar 2 FAQ/Walkthrough! I know, there's at least a half dozen of these things floating about nowadays, most of them at GameFAQs. Why write another, you ask? Because, while each has it's merits, none of them cover everything, and most of them are missing details that seem fairly important to include. For those of us who didn't get the fancy-shmancy Prima strategy guide, the net-based guides are our best hope, and there's nothing more disappointing than to discover that the guides available online don't even cover all of the game. Oh, and there's also the fact that many online guides are written by non-native English speakers more often than not, making it even HARDER to follow them. Well, that's my spiel. I'm off the soapbox now, so go read the guide, already. Why are you still reading this? Go on! Are you still here?! I give up... II. Legal Stuff [ILEGAL] Yeah, every FAQ, walkthrough, game guide, character list, manual, text document, and liscense agreement has these things. You're lucky, though, as I don't much care for Lawyerspeakian, and so, this will probably be the most understandable legal bit you've ever read (if you actually bother to read it; I won't blame you if you don't). This FAQ was written by me (Sky Render, in case you've somehow forgotten), and as such, it's my property, according to some copyright laws or somesuch that were written long ago. Anyway, I don't claim to have made the game that it pertains to (nor do I think I could), and give all rights to the Working Designs team for translating it, and Game Arts for making it. If you want to use materials within this guide in any media, I ask that you give me credit for using it, and (if possible) contact me to let me know that you have used it. Well, that was short and painless (hopefully). Onward! III. Revision History [IREVISION] Version 1.10 (2002/9/17) * A few corrections, much expansion of the walkthrough's detail * One new item and one new secret combination found * Beastiary added, but it's as of yet incomplete Version 1.00 (2002/4/26) * Walkthrough is complete * A few more corrections made Version 0.90 (2001/12/19) * More updates to the walkthrough (still not done, though, hence the 0.90) * Various improvements and corrections * More info on the Goddess Crest obtained Version 0.80 (2001/9/24) * Walkthrough is a bit closer to completion * Added voice clip listings and a few more details * Corrected a few typos; one of them was an amusing mispelling of Horam... I must have been in a very hentai mindset when I typed it... Version 0.65 (2001/8/20) * First version of the FAQ/Walkthrough. * The walkthrough section is currently incomplete. * However, the boss strategies are complete, albeit not too helpful. IV. Contributors [ICONTRIB] This is the special thanks section, essentially. If you want to get on this list, you need only give me some information that the guide currently lacks. Just e-mail e at torquemada_gi@hotmail.com with your submission. With any luck, you'll be listed here for your contribution, and you'll find your contribution listed in the FAQ/Walkthrough! Please don't submit something ripped directly from somebody else's guide, though (unless you wrote that guide, in which case, I'd like to know why you're submitting to my guide). You can rephrase what you saw in another guide, but don't pull a CTRL-C-CTRL-V on me. * Ghaleon3 of the Lunar 2 GameFAQs board: brought the existence and location of Borgan's Bromide X to my attention * Darkness King of the Lunar 2 GameFAQs board: informed me of the Yellow Pajamas/Gorgon Doll/Rubber Boots equipment combination =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= B e f o r e Y o u B e g i n =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= I. Characters [1CHARACT] As you progress through the world of Lunar, you will encounter many people and animals that will either aid or hinder your quest. I have outlined the important characters below. Hiro [1CHIRO] Weapon: Daggers, swords Armor Class: Heavy Magic Class: Low-level attack (wind) + sword skills Initial Equipment: Dagger, Adventurer's Clothes Description: Hiro is the aptly named hero of Lunar 2. He is the grandson of an archeologist named Gwyn, and he's about as adventurous as his grandpa was before he became too old to do so. Don't let his appearance or attitude fool you; he's your best fighter (naturally), and can do a lot more damage than the rest of the party for a good deal of the game. His main weakness is his pitiful MP. As you approach level 99, though, this problem quickly fades, and is replaced by another: most of his attacks are meant to kill one enemy. Magic/Skills Boomerang - Hiro throws a boomerang at an enemy. Wind-elemental, starts with it. Costs 3 MP. Poe Sword - This oddly-named attack is essentially a double-damage attack to one enemy. Very useful for the majority of the game. Non-elemental, learned at level 7. Costs 6 MP. Squall - No, not the hero of FF8. This attack summons a concentrated wind storm around an enemy. Like all Zone-based attacks, this one is only useful if Hiro is faster than his target(s). Wind-elemental, learned at level 9. Costs 7 MP. Sybillium Sword - Hiro jumps up and tosses a wind storm at his target. This move is utterly useless early on, as it's actually less effective than Squall is at first. Once it does become useful, it quickly becomes outdated by Batallion Sword. Non-elemental, learned at level 16. Costs 10 MP. Vortex - Hiro's first all-hitting attack. It's one of the most useful in the game, until it becomes Super Cyclone, at which point it's even MORE useful. Wind-elemental, learned at level 20. Costs 10 MP. Cross-Boomerang - The first tech morph that Hiro learns, this replaces Boomerang, and gains more power. Basically, Hiro throws two boomerangs instead of one. Wind-elemental, learned at level 24. Costs 6 MP. Tempest - Squall's second form. More powerful, but just as useless against monsters who move faster than Hiro. Wind-elemental, learned at level 27. Costs 14 MP. Batallion Sword - Hiro does a classic charge at the enemy. Although the line range is stingy, it still comes in handy. Non-elemental, learned at level 30. Costs 14 MP. Speed Storm - Totally useless. This skill raises Hiro's speed a bit. I suppose it could come in handy against a boss that's faster than Hiro, but otherwise it serves no purpose. Learned at level 33. Costs 8 MP. Super Cyclone - Vortex's well-deserved upgrade. Expect to use it plenty, right up to the end of the game. Wind-elemental, learned at level 37. Costs 20 MP. Concussion Sword - Hiro's best sword move for multiple enemies. It can actually kill some monsters, although most are immune to instant death. Non-elemental, learned at level 41. Costs 20 MP. Triple Sword - Hiro's absolute best attack, which only hits one enemy. But the damage makes it the best attack to use on bosses. It sucks MP up like a son of a bitch, though. Non-elemental, learned at level 50. Costs 30 MP. Voice Clips "Dodge THIS!" (Boomerang, Cross-Boomerang, Poe Sword, Sybillium Sword) "Burn, burn, burn!" (Battalion Sword) "Bang, you're dead!" (Concussion Sword) "Eieeeeya!" (Triple Sword) "Watch THIS!" (Speed Storm) "Burn, baby, burn!" (any fire spell) "Arctic blast!" (any ice spell) "Shockwave!" (any earth spell) "Ferocious wind!" (any wind spell) "Thunder blast!" (any thunder spell) "Eat this!" (any dual-elemental spell) "Nnnnnya!" (Generic magic) "Summon White Dragon!" (White Dragon Protect) "Summon Black Dragon!" (Black Dragon Grief) "Summon Blue Dragon!" (Blue Dragon Healing) "Summon Red Dragon!" (Red Dragon Anger) "Heal!" (use any item) "Let's get out of here!" (run away) =========================================================================== Gwyn [1CGWYN] Weapons: Maces Armor Class: Light Magic Class: Low-level healing + stat lowering Max # of Attacks: 1 Description: Ah, Gwynn... He's critical for keeping poor Hiro alive during the Blue Spire sequence, but afterwards he sort of leaves the party for good. Which is really too bad, as he's one of the only characters that can heal. Magic/Skills Heal Litany - Restores HP to one ally. Healing, starts with it. Costs 4 MP. Calm Litany - Restores HP to all allies. Healing, starts with it. Costs 12 MP. Fractured Armor - Reduces an enemy's defensive rating. Status, learned at level 10. Costs 6 MP. Shattered Sword - Reduces an enemy's attack rating. Status, learned at level 12. Costs 6 MP. Voice Clips "We've got to keep our strength up!" (Heal Litany, Calm Litany, use item) "I'm beginning to think this was a mistake, m'boy!" (use item) "Take that, ya hellish freak!" (Fractured Armor, Shattered Sword) "Ha ha, take this, infidel!" (Fractured Armor, Shattered Sword) "Whassaaaap?!" (Run away) =========================================================================== Lucia [1CLUCIA] Weapons: None (Jeez, this girl is crazy...) Armor Class: N/A (Can't change her equipment) Magic Class: Very high-level plasma magic + defense-increasing magic Description: Lucia is a bit unpredictable in battle, but she can be a genuinely useful ally in a tough fight. Even after she's reduced to a shadow of her former self, she's still powerful enough to provide some good counter attack action. Once she gets over her silly selfishness, she'll actually start helping the party out in battle, too! Magic/Skills Napalm Shot - A seemingly non-elemental magic attack, this skill is one of her earliest and (surprisingly) most useful skills. Lightning Bomb - An area attack that Lucia uses a bit too much early on. Plasma Rain - Lucia's first all-hitting skill, which she never seems to use, especially not when it would be useful if she did. Atomic Burn - This is Lucia's best one-enemy spell. It's actually fairly powerful, but it quickly falls behind in terms of damage compared to the skills of the rest of the party. Atomic Burn - Yep, another one. This one she uses when surrounded by enemies. It damages all in range for the same amount of damage that the other Atomic Burn does. Thunder Blow - Lucia's best area attack. She seems to use it far too often, if you ask me... Plasma Rain - The spell that kicks so much ass. Strikes all enemies, and does about as much damage as Atomic Burn. Sure, it gets outdated, but you have to love the sound effects. Oh, this is different than the other Plasma Rain she uses. Heal Litany - Heals one ally. She won't use this until she stops being so selfish. Magic Shield - Raises one ally's defense. She'll refuse to use this on anybody but herself until she stops being so selfish. Power Force - Raises one ally's attack. She won't use this until she stops being so selfish. Voice Clips "Do not interfere." (any spell before leaving the Blue Spire) "Power!" (Magic Shield) "Fear is upon you!" (Magic Sword) "We must hold together!" (Heal Litany, Magic Shield) "Pain." (Napalm Shot, Lightning Bomb, Plasma Rain (first form)) "Destruction!" (Atomic Burn (first), Plasma Rain, Thunder Blow) "Suffering." (Atomic Burn (second)) "All is lost." (Run away) =========================================================================== Ronfar [1CRONFAR] Weapon: Maces Armor Class: Medium-Heavy Magic Class: High-level healing + random chance Initial Equipment: Headband Max # of Attacks: 5 Description: Ronfar is the witty and somewhat cheavanistic ex-priest that gambles away his days in the small village of Larpa. He's also the game's only permanent healer. Fortunately, this guy has more MP than almost any other character (Lemina being the exception, who has a bit more), and a decent amount of HP. His range sucks, but his attack power is high. Magic/Skills Heal Litany - A simple healing spell that affects one ally. Healing spell, starts with it. Costs 4 MP. Calm Litany - The all version of Heal Litany. Healing spell, starts with it. Costs 12 MP. Anger Dice - One of Ronfar's only attack skills. Ronfar throws a pair of flaming dice at one enemy, and it does damage according to the roll's value. Fire-elemental, starts with it. Costs 2 MP. Destiny Dice - This move is literally a toss-up. I don't recommend using it unless nobody needs healing, and Ronfar can afford to lose a few HP. Non-elemental, learned at level 12. Costs 5 MP. Saint Litany - Has the same effect as a Healing Ring (or a regeneration effect on HP), but it only works on one ally. Healing spell, learned at level 15. Costs 5 MP. Escape Litany - Gets you out of a dungeon. This spell is utterly useless once you get the White Dragon Wings (unlike in Lunar 1, where it's always useful). Special, learned at level 16. Costs 2 MP. Clean Litany - Removes status ailments from one ally. Not too incredibly useful, really. Healing, learned at level 17. Costs 3 MP. Purity Litany - Restores all HP to one ally. Given it's excessive price, though, it's not really worth it until long after you learn it. Healing, learned at level 18. Costs 12 MP. Revive Litany - Revives a fainted ally. This spell is less powerful than the Angel's Wings item, so try to avoid using it if you can. Healing, learned at level 21. Costs 12 MP. Light Litany - Take HP from an enemy. Not bad, but I prefer Shining Litany over this one. Healing, learned at level 26. Costs 8 MP. Recovery Coin - Gah, this move is deadly to rely on! Try to avoid it, if you possibly can! Healing, learned at level 30. Costs 20 MP. Tranquil Litany - Restores quite a bit of HP to all allies. It costs a lot of MP, though. Healing, learned at level 34. Costs 24 MP. Shining Litany - This move is sweet. It takes HP from every enemy, and gives it to every ally. Naturally, the amount stolen isn't that great, but it can be a real life-saver. It's spendy, though. Healing, learned at level 38. Costs 30 MP. Divine Litany - The all version of Saint Litany. I rather like it. Healing, learned at level 42. Costs 20 MP. Miracle Litany - Revives a fallen ally completely. Quite sweet, but it requires a fair amount of MP. Healing, learned at level 47. Costs 30 MP. Cleansing Litany - This move would be a hell of a lot more useful if Ronfar were immune to all status ailments himself. It removes all status ailments from all allies. Healing, learned at level 54. Costs 18 MP. Voice Clips "Happy hour!" (Any of the HP-restoring spells) "Yeah, baby, yeah!" (Tranquil Litany, Purity Litany, Divine Litany) "Haha!" (Tranquil Litany, Purity Litany, Divine Litany) "I love this!" (Tranquil Litany, Purity Litany, Divine Litany) "Thank God for miracles!" (Revive Litany, Miracle Litany) "Lady luck, be kind!" (Anger Dice, Destiny Dice) "Let's get this party started..." (Light Litany) "Let's kick it up a notch..." (Shining Litany) "It's my lucky coin!" (Recovery Coin) "Fire is sooo pretty!" (any fire spell) "Ice blast!" (any ice spell) "Time to shake things up!" (any earth magic) "I'm a sucker for a good bang!" (any wind magic) "You always hurt the ones you love!" (any thunder magic) "This is good, watch!" (any dual-elemental spell) "Yeeeeah!" (Generic magic) "Nall, lend me a hand here!" (White Dragon Protect) "Haha, check this out!" (Black Dragon Grief) "Magic, don't fail me now!" (Blue Dragon Healing) "Help me out, pretty kitty!" (Red Dragon Anger) "Good thing I planned ahead!" (use any item) "The trick is to know when to walk away, and know when to RUN!" (run away) =========================================================================== Jean [1CJEAN] Weapons: Fans, fists Armor Class: Medium Magic Class: Status ailments + special attacks Max # of Attacks: 7 Description: Jean is quite a powerful fighter, even though she tries to con herself and others into thinking that she's a mere dancer. Her status attacks are amazingly more useful than any other game's status ailment attacks, for one simple reason: they all do damage. Yep, even if the enemy doesn't get poisoned or confused, they'll still take a hefty dose of damage. Once Jean starts fighting without her fans, she becomes your most deadly ally in so many ways. But, like Hiro, she starts to suffer from the MP shortage syndrome. Magic/Skills Moth Dance - Poison one enemy. Poisoning, starts with it. Costs 6 MP. Sleep Step - Put one enemy to sleep. Sleep, starts with it. Costs 5 MP. Bee Dance - Paralyzes one enemy. Paralyzing, starts with it. Costs 7 MP. Enchanted Kiss - Confuse one enemy. Confusion, learned at level 17. Costs 9 MP. Butterfly Dance - Poison a group of enemies. An upgrade of Moth Dance. Poisoning, learned at level 20. Costs 9 MP. Dream Dance - Put a group of enemies to sleep. An upgrade of Sleep Step. Sleep, learned at level 23. Costs 9 MP. Swarm Dance - Paralyze a group of enemies. An upgrade to Bee Dance. Paralyzing, learned at level 26. Costs 12 MP. Soul Kiss - Confuse a group of enemies. An upgrade to Enchanted Kiss. Confusion, learned at level 29. Costs 15 MP. Blue Dragon Palm - Attacks one enemy with spirit energy. Learned once Jean accepts that she's a martial artist. Costs 10 MP. Dopple Dance - Summon a clone of Jean to attack at the end of each turn. Learned once Jean accepts that she's a martial artist. Costs 16 MP. Blue Dragon Kick - Kicks a line of enemies with spirit energy. Learned at level 36. Costs 14 MP. Blue Dragon Wave - Attacks all nearby enemies with spirit energy. Learned at level 41. Costs 14 MP. Blue Dragon Fist - Jean uppercuts every enemy with spirit energy. Very useful, and very expensive. Learned at level 46. Costs 32 MP. Slam Dance - An upgrade of Dopple Dance, the clone does more damage. Very useful in boss battles, but spendy. Learned at level 51, costs 32 MP. Voice Clips (Before change) "Gypsy magic!" (any of her skills) "Gypsy power!" (use any item) "Gift of pain!" (generic magic) "We don't have time for this!" (run away) (After change) "Gypsy magic!" (any of her status dances) "Gypsy dance!" (Dopple Dance) "Blue Dragon Call!" (Blue Dragon Palm) "Blue Dragon Kick!" (Blue Dragon Kick) "Blue Dragon Wave!" (Blue Dragon Wave) "Taste my anger!" (Blue Dragon Fist) "Flame dance!" (any fire spell) "Ha, cool it!" (any ice spell) "Land, show me your power!" (any earth spell) "Storm winds!" (any wind spell) "Thunder roar!" (any thunder spell) "I'll never forgive you!" (any dual-elemental spell) "Gift of pain!" (Slam Dance, generic magic) "White Dragon shield!" (White Dragon Protect) "Take this, shorty!" (Black Dragon Grief) "Come on, we can't give up!" (Blue Dragon Healing) "Ruby, you go, girl!" (Red Dragon Anger) "Gift of power!" (use any item) "We can't relax until it's over!" (run away) =========================================================================== Lemina [1CLEMINA] Weapons: Staves Armor Class: Light Magic Class: High-level fire and ice magic + magic-affecting magic Max # of Attacks: 4 Description: A somewhat strange girl who seems to have an insatiable greed complex. Many people like her, which worries me, seeing as she's almost as selfish as Celine from Star Ocean 2... Anyway, she's about as pitiful as they get in the attack and speed departments, making her dead last in the attack order. Fortunately, her spells can rip most any enemy force into little tiny chunks in very short order, so if she survives to attack, she will probably kill most everything on the screen. With two Chiro Crests equipped, Lemina is virtually unstoppable. Magic/Skills Flame - Hit a single enemy with a weak flame. Fire-elemental, starts with it. Costs 4 MP. Flame Bomb - Hit a group of enemies with flames. Fire-elemental, starts with it. Costs 7 MP. Burning Rain - Hits every enemy with fire. Fire-elemental, starts with it. Costs 10 MP. Power Flame - Raises one ally's attack power slightly. Status, starts with it. Costs 9 MP. Magic Seal - Silences one enemy; not too useful. Status, starts with it. Costs 3 MP. Ice Pick - Stabs one enemy with an icicle. Ice-elemental, starts with it. Costs 4 MP. Ice Lance - Strikes a group of enemies with icicles. Ice-elemental, starts with it. Costs 7 MP. Freeze Claw - Strikes all enemies with a wave of ice. Ice-elemental, starts with it. Costs 10 MP. Ice Shell - Raises one ally's defense slightly. Status, learned at level 21. Costs 8 MP. Flame Shot - Shoots a powerful fireball at an enemy. Fire-elemental, learned at level level 22. Costs 8 MP. Dispel Magic - Cancels magic effects on one ally. Healing, learned at level 24. Costs 3 MP. Ice Arrows - Strikes one enemy with a sharp ice projectile. Ice-elemental, learned at level 27. Costs 16 MP. Pyro Pillar - A powered-up version of Flame Bomb. Fire-elemental, learned at level 30. Costs 15 MP. Erase Magic - Removes all magic effects from all characters, enemy and ally alike. Healing, learned at level 32. Costs 18 MP. Crematorium - Pillars of fire burn all enemies. Fire-elemental, learned at level 34. Costs 30 MP. Magic Pilfer - Steal MP from an enemy. Not too useful. Non-elemental, learned at level 36. Costs 1 MP. Mega Seal - Stops a group of enemies from using magic. Like it's previous form, not too useful. Status, learned at level 38. Costs 9 MP. Cyro Shield - Raises one ally's defense greatly. Status, learned at level 40. Costs 16 MP. Magic Shield - Raises a magic barrier around Lemina. I don't find this spell that useful, given it's pitiful range, but it DOES keep all physical attackers away from her for a while. Special, learned at level 42. Costs 18 MP. Ice Wall - A powered-up version of Ice Lance. Ice-elemental, learned at level 44. Costs 21 MP. Freeze Smash - Icy wind and falling ice chunks hit the enemy. Ice- elemental, learned at level 46. Costs 20 MP. Power Drive - Raises one ally's attack power greatly. Status, learned at level 48. Costs 21 MP. Catastrophe - An all-elemental spell. Unfortunately, most monsters later in the game are strong against many elements, so it's not as useful as it could be. All-elemental, learned at level 51. Costs 55 MP. Voice Clips: "Mega magic power!" (Power Flame, Power Drive) "Mega seal!" (Magic Seal, Mega Seal) "Magic cure!" (Dispel Magic, Erase Magic) "Mega power!" (Ice Shell, Cyro Shield, Magic Shield) "Magic stealer!" (Magic Swiper) "Mega damage!" (Catastrophe) "Mega magic FLAME!" (any fire spell) "Ice storm!" (any ice spell) "Rock magic!" (any earth spell) "Fly like an eagle!" (any wind spell) "Lightning blast!" (any thunder spell) "Magic power recover!" (any dual-elemental spell) "I'll take care of this!" (Generic magic, stave attacks) "Nall, lend me your power!" (White Dragon Protect) "Later, freaks." (Black Dragon Grief) "Mega heal!" (Blue Dragon Healing) "Ruby, lend me your power!" (Red Dragon Anger) "I knew this would come in handy!" (use any item) "I guess I'll let them live this time..." (run away) =========================================================================== Leo [1CLEO] Weapons: Daggers, swords Armor Class: Heavy Magic Class: Surprisingly high-level earth magic + sword skills Max # of Attacks: 6 Description: Ah, Leo... He seems to have a bit of trouble with speech mechanics, and frequently utters phrases in battle that you would expect him to utter in bed. Er, anyway, he's actually your third-best fighter, for the most part (he ties with Hiro in the Sega CD version). His moves consume plenty of MP, but since he tends to finish off enemies so fast even without skills, he probably won't run short. The real bummers are that he never gets more than 3 attacks naturally, and that you get him far too late in the game for him to be useful. Magic/Skills Rock Viper - Hit one enemy with a rock. Pitiful-sounding, I know. Earth- elemental, starts with it. Costs 4 MP. Rock Crush - A bunch of rocks hit an area of monsters. Earth-elemental, starts with it. Costs 8 MP. Crack Point - A small earthquake ensues, and some land pops up to hit the enemies. Why does this hurt flying things? Earth-elemental, starts with it. Costs 10 MP. Flash Blade - Leo does a series of blows to one enemy. Really, it's not much more powerful than his regular attacks. Non-elemental, starts with it. Costs 8 MP. Buzz Blade - Leo shoots energy at a group of enemies. Non-elemental, starts with it. Costs 18 MP. Grizzle Blade - Leo charges up his sword, and shoots out a large number of energy blades that hit all enemies. Non-elemental, starts with it. Costs 20 MP. Crack Zone - An upgrade of Crack Point. Earth-elemental, learned at level 36. Costs 20 MP. Rock Cobra - Three rocks strike one enemy. Earth-elemental, learned at level 38 (I believe). Costs 8 MP. Rock Riot - A series of rocks hit a group of enemies. Earth-elemental, learned at level 40 (I believe). Costs 14 MP. Soul Blade - Steals HP from one enemy, and gives it to Leo. Non-elemental, learned at level 42 (I believe). Costs 4 MP. Earth Prayer - Raises Leo's attack and defense moderately. Status, learned at level 44 (or around there). Costs 15 MP. Voice Clips "I save this for you, infidel!" (Flash Blade) "Taste my refreshment!" (Buzz Blade, Soul Blade) "Victory is mine!" (Grizzle Blade) "This should help." (Earth Prayer) "Taste my anger!" (any fire spell) "Swallow this!" (any ice spell) "Kneel and perish!" (any earth magic) "Taste the wine of my discontent!" (any wind spell) "Cower before me!" (any thunder spell) "I shall conquer!" (any dual-elemental spell) "You need a time-out!" (Generic magic) "White Dragon assist!" (White Dragon Protect) "Black Dragon anger!" (Black Dragon Grief) "Blue Dragon strength!" (Blue Dragon Healing) "Red Dragon flame!" (Red Dragon Anger) "Sample my goods!" (use any item) "Fall back!" (run away) =========================================================================== Mystere [1CMYSTERE] Weapons: Swords Armor Class: Heavy Magic Class: Same as Leo's (gee, I wonder why?) Max # of Attacks: 3 Description: Um, unless you happen to be incredibly dense, you will realize that Mystere is just Leo with a silly white mask on. Well, since he is technically Leo, I guess you could read Leo's stats for info on him. Yeah, I'm lazy. :P Voice Clips "You deserve a spanking!" (any earth magic) "Fang of justice!" (Flash Blade) "Discipline feels GOOD! Ha!" (Buzz Blade, Grizzle Blade) "Never forget my name! Mystere!" (run away) "Sample my goods!" (use item) =========================================================================== Ruby [1CRUBY] Weapons: Her claws and fire breath (which isn't fire-elemental) Armor Class: N/A (nobody can target her) Magic Class: N/A Description: Ruby is Hiro's pet fire dragon (although he's quite certain that she's a flying cat; silly, silly Hiro...), who provides little to nothing in battle. But hey, she can help out a lot early on. Later, she becomes more powerful (but is still pitiful overall). Anywho, she seems determined to get between Hiro and Lucia. =========================================================================== OTHER CHARACTERS [1COTHER] Nall Description: Nall is the leader of the Dragon Children, who live in the forests near Vane. He hides his identity, as do most characters in this game. I'm sure anybody who's played Lunar 1 will have a solid guess as to who he is when they first spot him, though. Borgan Description: A bloated mage who has a bit of a problem in that he believes that he's actually worth something. I really don't like him... Lunn Description: The martial arts master of Althena's Chosen, who holds (what a shocker) a deep, dark secret. Mauri Description: Ronfar's lover and Leo's sister. She's been twisted by a dark will, but I won't say more than that. Ghaleon Description: If you've played Lunar 1, you'll recognize this guy the moment you run into him. Jeez, doesn't that bastard EVER die? Oh, well, he's not so bad in this game, really. Althena Description: Supposedly the goddess Althena, but last I checked, Althena should have blue hair... It's amazing what RPG characters (heroes and townspeople alike) never notice, isn't it? =========================================================================== II. Gameplay Herein you will find the basic mechanics of gameplay, and a few helpful tips and tricks, as well. FIELD ATTRIBUTES [2GFIELD] Although you can't harness them until nearly the end of the game yourself, field attributes are amazingly effective. When a field attribute is set to an element, that element becomes twice as effective, while it's opposing elements become only half as effective. Here's an easy chart to follow: Field Effect Effective Ineffective Fire Fire spells Water and wind spells Water Water spells Fire and thunder spells Earth Earth spells Wind and thunder spells Wind Wind spells Fire and earth spells Thunder Thunder spells Water and earth spells Field attributes can play to your advantage AND to your disadvantage, as enemy skills and spells are affected as well. If you plan to switch the field, then make sure that the enemy can't cast the spell type that you're switching the field to! And don't forget that you can erase the field effects with Lemina's Erase Magic skill. BATTLE FORMATIONS [2GBATFORM] The formation of your party in battle can make or break you very quickly. The basic thing to remember is that you should space allies out, so that zone attacks can't affect everybody, and to keep fighters closer to the front, and mages in the extreme rear. My particular favorite setups for various stages of the game are outlined below. HOW MONSTERS TARGET: Fairly simple, really. Whoever is closest to them, they're most likely to target them. For long range attackers, they'll aim at the furthest back in your party first. Bosses generally are a bit more intelligent, and try to hit the character who is most critical to your party, or whomever their zone-based attacks would affect the most party members with. Key: H=Hiro L=Lucia/Leo R=Ronfar/Gwyn J=Jean l=Lemina One-Man Battle - When you've just got Hiro and either Gwyn or Ronfar, this is a good battle plan. L H R Astral Shift - Named after the similar formation in Star Ocean 2, this is probably your best setup until your allies are all assembled. L H R J Mages in Back - A simple but effective setup for once you get Lemina. L H R J l Square Shift - This one is fairly effective, too, as enemies have virtually no line-based attacks. But it does increase the number of hits Jean takes. Once you get Leo, feel free to substitute Jean and him (which will give you a rather effective party). H R L J l Lucia the Target - This formation is surprisingly useful, right up to the point that Lucia starts helping in battle. Before that, Lucia counters with Napalm Shot when hit. Thus, by having her in front, she'll actually contribute when she's hit. l H L J R Pentagram Shift - The best setup, once you get Leo in the party. L R H l J Warrior Shift - This can be risky, as it raises the amount of damage that Jean and Leo will take, but it can also be quite useful. L R H l J Phalanx Line - This is truly for the macho player, or anybody who's reached level 99 and wants to brag. Do NOT use this formation under any normal circumstances! L R H l J Attack Shift - This works best for when you're trying to conserve MP by having everybody attack. Ronfar and Jean take more hits this way, so you may not want to use this formation unless you're over-leveled. Obviously, it's intended for when you have Leo in the party. H J l R L Dodgy Shift - Also risky. Best for running away, and a VERY bad formation for any area where monsters use zone attacks. LR HJl CREST COMBINATIONS [2GCRESTCM] There are several combinations possible with Crests. Note that any Crest combo involving two of any Crest can be simulated with the Goddess Crest in place of the second Crest (ie. 2 Chiro Crests is the same as 1 Chiro Crest and the Goddess Crest). No, there aren't 2 White Dragon Crests or anything silly like that, so don't panic if you've only got one of a rare Crest. Also, all of the dragon Crests retain their spell-giving abilities when coupled with the Goddess Crest. There are only three exceptions to the Goddess Crest rule that I know of, and those are Magic Eye Crests, Warrior Crests, and Power Crests. NOTE1: This is probably about as complete a list of Crest combinations as there can possibly be. Unless another Crest exists that I'm unaware of, this is it. NOTE2: Although the Power Crest reacts to the Earth, Thunder, Water, Fire, Wind, Seal, Charm, Mind, Snake, and Dream Crests, it has no effects whatsoever on what they can do. Instead, it adds the effects of the equipped crest to your normal attack. NOTE3: Just about every special combo involving weapon effects don't affect staves, for the simple fact that staves are always one-hit infinite-range weapons. NOTE4: I've added a star in front of my favorite combos. Crest Combination Effect 2 Earth Crests Enhanced earth magic usable 2 Thunder Crests Enhanced thunder magic usable 2 Water Crests Enhanced water magic usable 2 Fire Crests Enhanced fire magic usable 2 Wind Crests Enhanced wind magic usable Earth Crest + Thunder Crest Non-attribute magic usable Earth Crest + Wind Crest Non-attribute magic usable Thunder Crest + Water Crest Non-attribute magic usable Water Crest + Fire Crest Non-attribute magic usable Fire Crest + Wind Crest Non-attribute magic usable Earth Crest + Water Crest Earth/water magic usable Earth Crest + Fire Crest Earth/fire magic usable Thunder Crest + Fire Crest Thunder/fire magic usable Thunder Crest + Wind Crest Thunder/wind magic usable Water Crest + Wind Crest Water/wind magic usable 2 Seal Crests Enhanced silencing magic usable 2 Charm Crests Enhanced charming magic usable 2 Mind Crests Enhanced paralysis magic usable 2 Snake Crests Enhanced poisoning magic usable 2 Dream Crests Enhanced sleep magic usable Seal Crest + Warrior Crest Skills disabled, double attack power Mind Crest + Warrior Crest Attack last, increased attack power Snake Crest + Revenge Crest Attack power rises each turn Magic Eye Crest+Healing Crest Absorb MP when attacking *2 Magic Eye Crests Wisdom is greatly increased *Magic Eye Crest+Goddess Crest MP consumption is halved 2 Revenge Crests Counter attack rate raised greatly 2 Healing Crests Absorbs much more HP when attacking *2 Warrior Crest Raises attack power greatly *Warrior Crest + Goddess Crest Raises attack power grotesquely *2 Chiro Crests Assures that character will attack first 2 Shiro Crests Increases character's evade ridiculously *Chiro Crest + Shiro Crest Raises speed slightly, raises range to 200 Hunter Crest + Gale Crest Enables projectile attacks 2 Hunter Crests Raises agility and critical hit rate *2 Gale Crests Increases number of attacks by 2 *Archer Crest + Ogre Crest Strike all enemies when attacking *2 Archer Crests Same as above *2 Ogre Crests Same as above 2 Power Crests Increases all stats Power Crest + Goddess Crest Increases all stats and chances of getting an item at the end of battle 2 White Dragon Crests Raises defense, speed, and magic defense 2 Red Dragon Crests Raises attack, defense, agility, speed, and range 2 Blue Dragon Crests Raises wisdom, magic defense, and range 2 Black Dragon Crests Raises attack, agility, and wisdom SECRET COMBINATIONS [2GSECOMBO] There is another form of combination possible in Lunar 2: equipment combination! By equipping some special items with certain weapons, you can gain special abilities. Here are a few examples: Combination Effect Goddess Crest + Althena's Sword Extra attack, same effect as a Healing Ring Magic Eye Crest + Rusty Dagger Can use Shattered Sword and Fractured Armor Goddess Crest + Thieves' Staff Steal success rate raises to 75% Gorgon Doll + Rubber Boots + Yellow Pajamas Run for about 10 seconds in dungeons, instead of 1 Spirit Mace + Gauss' Necklace Ronfar gets a special second attack There may be other combos, but if there are, I have yet to find them. Try things out, and tell me if you find a new one! SPELLS/SKILLS [2GSPELLS] Of course, you gain new spells when you equip many Crests or Crest combos. Here's an overview of every spell you can get, their MP cost, and so forth. Some of these spells are identical to spells learned by characters in-game, and as such, I have not re-written their descriptions here. Rock Viper - Same as Leo's version. Costs Costs 4 MP. Disc 1 Walkthrough [DISC1WALK] Location: Dragon Ruins Suggested Level: 5 Monsters: None Items: None Head on out, and wander south for a bit. You should soon find yourself at the entrance to the path leading back home. Location: Desert Pass Suggested Level: 5 [D1DESERTP] Monsters: Dung Beetle, Sand Cyclops, Sand Shark Items: Herb, 100S This is sort of the first real dungeon of the game. It's not too tough, given that there's a goddess statue right near the entrance (so you can go back and heal up any time). Make your way south, have a pleasant chat with the cocky Lord Leo, and keep heading south towards Gwyn's place. Location: Gwyn's House Suggested Level: 6-7 Items: Ancient Dagger Leo, the cocky little monger that he is, is chiding poor old Gwyn inside. Talk with them both for a bit, and then follow Gwyn upstairs. The old geezer sees a light appear at Blue Spire, and you then are prompted to respond. Choose whichever suits you (they both result in the same outcome), and head downstairs. Grab the Ancient Dagger from the basement, and (if you want) read up on the world. Equip the new weapon, and talk to Gwyn. Once all is in order, head to the forboding Blue Spire. Location: Blue Spire Labyrinth Suggested Level: 6-7 [D1BSPIRE] Monsters: Slime, Mummy, Bandage Boy, Brainpicker Items: Angel's Tear, Star Light Head up to the entrance, and watch as the dense old man puts the opal eye into one side of the dragon, and is actually surprised that it doesn't open for them. Gee, this is a hard puzzle, eh? Put the blue eye into the other side, and watch as the door opens. Gwyn cheers Hiro on, and you can step into the tower at last. Your goal on this floor is to press all of the switches, so that you can access the next floor. Proceed to each corner of the first area, and press the switches in each corner. The three blocks that form the bridge to the next area of the spire will organize so that you can cross. Do so, and (ignoring the energy barrier for now), head on over to the far corner to the last switch on this floor. Once it's been pressed, head back to where the barrier was, and head on up to the next floor. This floor is fairly simple, as was the previous floor. There are four rooms in the four corners of the main chamber, each holding a pedestal with a floating orb. Just activate the orbs in each chamber, and then head to the southernmost edge of the main room. The large hexagram will send you up to the next floor. The third floor isn't really worth mentioning, as all you have to do is go forward and onto the terrace overlooking the spire itself. Feel free to heal up, and then head on in. Location: Blue Spire Tower Suggested Level: 8-9 Monsters: Slime, Magic Masque, Bomb Angel, Crystal Knight Items: Angel's Tear, Herb x2, Healing Nut, Star Light, 72S The tower is very straightforward in design. Just head up it, and fight as you see fit. Don't bother trying to snatch the items (for now), and generally avoid encounters for the time being. Once you reach the seventh floor, Gwyn will become distracted by the walls (why, I can't imagine), so you're left to find the entrance to the top floor. It's a deceptively easy task, though. Just go to the top-most portion of the room, and press X on the hexagram at the top of the room. Welcome to the crystal room! From this point on, it's very simple. Once you regain control of Hiro, you'll be back on the seventh floor, Lucia in tow. Head on down to the sixth floor, and marvel at Lucia's amazing power as she turns the enemy to dust. With THAT kind of power, you know that she's going to lose it eventually, though. Take advantage of it, for now, and level up Gwyn and Hiro to level 12 (so you can use Gwyn's effect magic). Whatever you do, don't enter the courtyard until you're ready to face the game's first boss. Once you are ready, head on out, and watch Lucia's little battle with Zophar (poor, poor Lucia). Then, it's on to the Althena statue to heal, and the first boss battle. I imagine it should go without saying, but be sure to save. Now, go and face the dreaded Guardian! -------------------- [BGUARDIAN] Boss #1: Guardian HP: 550 Suggested Level: 10-12 Exp.: 121 Silver: 100 Attacks: Ball and chain (standing there doing nothing), swinging ball and chain (swinging ball and chain), stat raise (glowing) Strategy: Well, since Hiro is your main attacker, be sure to keep him in the forefront, to take the brunt of the damage. Have Gwyn act as a healer and stat reducer, while Hiro takes out the boss with Poe Sword. Don't bother to restore Hiro's MP if he runs out, just start attacking regularly. Gwyn is another matter, though, seeing as his healing is the only thing that will keep Hiro alive in this fight. Persevere, and victory will be your's. If you have Shattered Sword, use it until it becomes totally ineffective on the boss. Soon, the boss will be able to do a mere 1 damage to any ally (which is still fatal to Lucia; hehe). -------------------- After that mess is over, go on back to the Althena statue to heal, and then head back through the pitiful Labyrinth to the entrance. Whoops! The other four Guardians are awake, and they want a piece of you! Don't even bother trying to cheat to defeat them, they have about 60,000 HP each (yikes). The Dragon Ship Destiny will shortly vaporize them for you. Boy, if that thing can kill monsters with 60,000 HP so easily, why do they even bother fighting on foot? :P Anyway, head on back to Gwyn's (with a short lie to Leo, who is as dense as lead). Keep talking to Lucia whilst she lies on the couch, and soon, you'll be in the possession of Gwyn's boat, with instructions to go to Larpa to find Ronfar. Well, don't just sit there, you've got to get to Larpa! Location: Larpa Suggested Level: 11-12 [D1LARPA] Items for Sale: Herb, Purity Leaf, Shortsword, Leather Helm, Mace, Leather Armor Items Found: Herb Finding Ronfar is easy. Getting him to talk to you is a bit more difficult to pull off, though. It's pretty obvious who he is, simply for the fact that, unlike the rest of the townspeople, he has a face next to his dialogue boxes. You'll find him in the bar. Talk to him there until he starts repeating himself, then go out and talk to some people in town. In particular, talk to the priest in the sanctuary. Come back, and he'll challenge you to a game of dice. Of course, being the cheap bastard that he is, he cheats horribly, and you can't win, so just admit defeat. Lucia will handle the problem rather nicely for you by fainting. After Ronfar grabs her, head over to the far west corner of town, and up the steps to Ronfar's house. Once inside, talk to Ronfar a bit, and watch as he throws Leo off of your trail (for now). After that, he'll ask you why you're helping Lucia (say whichever you want), and then he'll ask to bet on a dice roll again. Choose either option, it won't matter; you're guaranteed to win. Now, he'll finally agree to help you out. You'll probably notice pretty quick that Ronfar is barely equipped at all, save for his headband. If you have the cash, you'd be wise to invest in some Leather Armor for him. Once you've gotten him equipped, go back to Ronfar's house, and through the tunnel. The monsters in the cave aren't too tough, so just use physical attacks, and have Ronfar heal when necessary. It won't be long before you reach the exit to the cave, and are confronted with the temple. It's quite straightforward from here: take Lucia into the central room, and watch as Ronfar does the rest. Now, then, you'd be wise to take Lucia back to Ronfar's house (the easy way, seeing as you can't even reach the path that you took to get to the temple from here). One night's rest later, you'll find that Lucia has vanished! Now, time for yet another villager inquiring session... Actually, you only really need to go talk to the woman standing inside of the house on the far upper right side of Larpa. So, Lucia's wandering around, hmm? Talk to the woman's husband outside to get Lucia's first Bromide picture, and then head on over to the mayor's mansion. Talk to the mayor (who rudely forces you to pay him), and then go to the docks to meet up with Lucia. After the FMV and such, head west from Larpa, and then north through the desert pass. Location: Larpa Pass Suggested Level: 11-13 Monsters: Poison Beetle, Desert Dolphin, Scorpion Items: 200S The pass is a pain in the ass. Hey, that rhymed! Anyway, just rush through this dungeon for now, grabbing whatever happens to be along the straightest path, and make your way to Dalton. Location: Dalton Suggested Level: 12-13 Items for Sale: Long Sword, Flail, Wooden Shield, Bracelet, Colorful Bandanna Items Found: Herb, Dagger, Star Light Dalton is a rather annoying town, as it's the first one that you arrive in where you will likely find yourself short on cash. Don't bother buying a Flail for Ronfar (you've no doubt noticed that he sucks in the range department), but do buy a Long Sword for Hiro if you can afford it. Once you're ready, just go straight to the Destiny, and heal up using it's statue. Make your way through the ship, returning to the statue to heal as necessary, and you'll find yourself in the Destiny's brigade in no time. Release Lucia, and watch the fun as Leo becomes a prisoner of his own ship! After pulling a stunt like that, as you may imagine, it would be wise to flee north (after healing with the Destiny's statue, of course). If you didn't get the 200S in the Desert Pass yet, go back and do so now. Once that's done (or otherwise), make your way back to the world map, and go into the Starlight Forest. Location: Starlight Forest Suggested Level: 13-15 [D1STARFOR] Monsters: Green Goblin, Hummingbird, Killer Fly Items: 600S, Herb The Starlight Forest is mercifully short, and relatively uneventful. In fairly short order, you'll find yourself at Star Dragon Tower. Lucia will ask you (as Ronfar did earlier) why you're helping her, so answer however you want. Ronfar informs you that the Destiny is still in Dalton, so it seems that the pursuit is stalled (for the moment). Now it's on to the Illusion Woods. Starlight Forest is a joke compared to them... Location: Illusion Woods Suggested Level: 14-15 Monsters: Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Goblin Warlock, Hummingbird Items: Herb x4, Star Light, Snake Crest, 146S, Chain Mail (Gypsies' Camp) Items: Life Jewel, Iron Clogs, Jean's Bromide 2 This place is a bit annoying, but not too difficult. Refrain from using MP early on, and focus on regular attacks against enemies (except the Hummingbirds, who are rather difficult to kill without Poe Sword). You may want to check every single vine collection, as several of them have items and Crests behind them. Making it to the end of the forest shouldn't prove to be too hard. Once you get to the clearing, you can let out a sigh of relief, as the dungeon is over at that point! Chat up a storm with the Gypsies if you want, but you don't really have to talk to anybody but Jean and Giban. Once Jean heads off the screen, follow her, and talk to her a bit more. Ask her every question, and watch what ensues. Jeez, she's got some real power... Anyway, soon it will be morning, and Ronfar will tell you to go check out the spring on the other side of the clearing. Go ahead and do so. Er, enjoy the cinematics. After the bath scene is over, head back to camp. Now, wasn't that all too predictable? Jean will give you the rope ladder, but refuse to help. Of course, she changes her mind (all heroes do when in doubt), and goes along anyway. The cave just has the same monsters as the Illusion Woods do, but they're only there to soften you up. Soon, you'll be face to face with Lunar 2's second boss, Plantella! -------------------- [BPLANTELL] Boss #2: Plantella HP: ~1,000 Suggested Level: 15-17 Exp.: 420 Silver: 0 Attacks: Vine whip (twitching about), seed shot (eyes glowing, twitching about), spike rain (eyes glowing, twitching about), root shot (same as before) Strategy: This boss is quite a bit harder than the Guardian. It changes it's form twice, after you knock off about 300 HP each time, and gains one of it's other two attacks. The best tactic for this battle is to have Hiro use Poe Sword, Jean use her least expensive skill (probably Sleep Step), and Ronfar heal as necessary. Lucia won't really help out much unless the boss hits her, so don't rely on her too much. This is probably the third- longest boss fight in the game. -------------------- After that long and tedious battle, you can finally continue out of the clearing. Okay, I'd just like to say that that boss fight was completely and utterly predictable as a plot element... Anyway, head on north (but be sure to talk to the lady at the entrance to get Jean's first Bromide before you leave), and continue onwards to the gate city of Takkar! Location: Takkar Suggested Level: 16-17 [D1TAKKAR] Items for Sale: Iron Fan, Iron Mace, Chain Mail, Hairband, Iron Armlet, Iron Bracelet Items Found: Holy Water, Star Light, Passion Fruit This town isn't much to see, admittedly. You'll definitely want to buy some new weapons and armor for Jean, though. Wander about, and talk to the people in town. Eventually, you'll find yourself talking to the hooded girl at the pub. Head up to the gates of Takkar from there, and talk to the man guarding them. As the hooded girl predicted, you can't get through no matter how hard you try. She'll tell you that there's another way out of Takkar, and tell you to meet her at the gate on the far left side of the village. Do so, and she'll open it so you can go along the path. Location: Takkar Pass Suggested Level: 16-17 Items Found: Purity Ring, Wind Ring Monsters: Rufus, Banshee Fowl, Death Worm, Mud Cyclops The pass isn't too hard to navigate. Try to refrain from using MP on your way up, though. You should probably take 20 Herbs with you, just to be safe. The pass is very straightforward, but be sure not to miss the Wind Ring (it's off the main path). Soon, you'll find yourself at the mansion. Location: Haunted Mansion Suggested Level: 17-19 Monsters: Rolling Imp, Knuckle Buster, Susie Death Items: Holy Water, 302S, Angel's Tear, Star Light x2, Herb The mansion is probably one of the most annoying dungeons in the game. As you make your way through it, avoid encountering enemies. Do defeat the Knuckle Buster guarding the treasure chest about halfway through, though, as that will net you a Star Light. Once you reach the end of the mansion (you'll know because the last room has red carpet), pause to heal up, and walk in. Ruby (in all of her infinite stupidity) will activate the next boss, and then you get to beat it up. Oh joy... -------------------- [BMAGICTES] Boss #3: Magic Tester LX1 HP: ~1,500 Suggested Level: 18-20 Exp.: 1,080 Silver: 0 Attacks: Drum beat (sitting there doing nothing special), sleep bubbles (ears popping out of head), jump squash (bouncing up and down a bit), eye beams (blowing something from it's mouth) Strategy: A decidedly difficult boss, given that you have to go through not one, but TWO dungeons without a healing statue to reach it. Don't use Poe Sword on it, as Boomerang does the same amount of damage, and for half the MP. On the first turn, be sure to have Ronfar cast Saint Litany on Hiro, so Hiro can survive the Magic Tester's attacks a bit better. Ronfar is probably going to run out of MP healing in this battle very quickly... Anyway, be sure to put Lucia close to Hiro, so that she can use Napalm Shot on the boss from time to time. Jean should use her lowest MP cost skill until she runs out of MP, and then attack. This boss has 3 forms (which makes for one HELL of a long battle), and each new form gains at least one new attack (and loses an old one). This is the second-longest boss fight in the game. -------------------- Well, that wasn't too tough (hopefully). Now, with Lemina in your party, you should make your way out of the rear of the mansion, and to the cliff. After a silly (and somewhat predictable) scene, you'll be at the base of the cliff, and on your way. Be sure to take advantage of the Althena statue, save, and move on west to the Bandit's Butte. Oh, and a quick note: if you want to buy some equipment that was available in Takkar for your party, go back to the gates of Takkar and talk to the man there. He'll sell you anything that you could buy in the village itself. Anyway, onward! Location: Bandit's Butte Suggested Level: 19-21 Monsters: Maneater, Killer Buzz, Parasite, Killer Shroom Items: Shiro Crest, Star Light, Wind Staff Bandit's Butte is fairly short, and not even plot-related. Even so, be sure to get all 3 treasure chests. The monsters here aren't too tough, and since there's no boss or anything to worry about, you can use your magic and skills to the max without fear. Lemina, as you'll quickly discover, is powerful and slow as all-get-out. Anyway, make your way to Nota from there (it's the town between two rivers with a bridge across the river). Location: East Nota Suggested Level: 20-21 Items for Sale: Broad Sword, Iron Shield, Flared Dress, Silver Robe, Iron Helm, Silver Bandanna, Herb, Purity Herb, Angel's Tear, Dragon Wing Items Found: Gauss's Necklace, Silver Light, Herb Welcome to Nota! Or rather, East Nota. The two towns are in dispute, so they don't think of themselves as the same town. Silly, silly people... Anyway, stock up on weapons and armor, and then try to cross the bridge. D'oh! Stupid Leo... Well, Jean made a a good suggestion. Go north across the plains to the small camp of tents. Location: Carnival Suggested Level: 20-21 [D1CARNIVL] Items for Sale: Broad Sword, Iron Shield, Flared Dress, Silver Robe, Iron Helm, Silver Bandanna, Herb, Purity Herb, Angel's Tear, Dragon Wing Items Found: Holy Water, Angel's Tear Carnival is a crazy place, and there's quite a bit of silly stuff to do here. If you're patient (and a saving fanatic), you can make quite a bit of money in the gambling tent. Once you've taking in the sights (and items lying around carelessly in chests), go talk to Giban on the north side of the festivities. After this, you might as well peek in on Lucia. Hey, sometimes it's a requirement that your characters be perverts. Of course, they DO pay the price... Hehehe... Anyway, Lucia has new threads, and the Magic Arrow is ready for takeoff. And who should return but everybody's favorite trouble-maker, Leo? He's probably really getting on your nerves by now... Now you have to take a slight detour, through the Mystic Ruins. Location: Mystic Tower Suggested Level: 20-21 Monsters: Reflector, Persona, Masquerade, Dark Knight Items: Healing Nut, Dream Crest, Star Light x2, Flame Staff After Lucia breaks the seal, and you witness the return of a certain rather annoying elfling, it's time to take on the tower. A note: try to gain a few levels here, and defeat everything. The monsters won't respawn if you go back to the Althena statue, so don't worry. Be sure to get all of the items, too! Once you go through the new secret garden (Ghaleon is one weird elfling), head back to Nota. D'oh! Leo just never gives up, does he? But he messed with the wrong supernatural being today. Just whose side is Ghaleon on, anyway? Back to Nota, and on to the west side. Location: West Nota Suggested Level: 22-24 [D1NOTA] Items for Sale: Silver Sword, Silver Bracelet, Silver Gauntlet, Iron Armor, Priest Clothes, Silver Hairpin Items Found: Life Jewel, Peasant Clothes, Herb You should probably buy some weapon and armor upgrades here. If you start to run short on cash, hurry back to the Mystic Ruins and build up your cash reserves, then come back. Once you're stocked (and stoked), head out of town to Zulan. Location: Zulan Suggested Level: 22-24 Items for Sale: Silver Shield, Fur Dress, Fur Fobe, Silver Helm, Lucky Bandanna, Razor Fan, Golden Mace Items Found: Plate Armor Lovely town, huh? The blizzard's frozen it solid, and the mayor's going nuts. Now would be a good time to buy some upgraded equipment for your party (yes, again). Don't bother with a new robe for Lemina, but you may want to get a Fur Dress for Jean (or you can get one sometimes from the Razor Wolves up on Zulan Mountain; it's your call). Go to the large lodge in the middle of Zulan, and talk to the old man there. Lucia (rather coldly) simply walks off, but you don't need to worry about that. They always come back... Anyway, get the Plate Armor, and equip it on Lemina (I hope you didn't buy her a robe). Then, it's on to the mountains! Location: Zulan Mountains Suggested Level: 22-24 Monsters: Razor Wolf, Wyburn, Albino Baboon, Barbarian Items: 2000S, Healing Nut, Power Crest, Water Staff, Barrier Ring, Phoenix Ring The mountains are straightforward, and you don't have to conserve MP, so blast away without fear. Just be sure to get all of the treasure chests, and try to get up to level 25 or so. Trust me, it makes the upcoming boss a lot easier to defeat. Work your way up, and you'll be snowed out by the boss soon. And, as per the standard RPG plot, Lucia will come back just in time to save you from dying of frostbite. Nice girl, isn't she? Talk to your party members to wake them up, save, and face off the biggest damned ape in the entire game. -------------------- [BMISSINGL] Boss #4: Missing Link HP: ~2,000 Suggested Level: 24-28 Exp.: 2,600 Silver: 0 Attacks: Paralyze punch (beating chest), avalanche (crouched down chanting), barrier (flexing and breathing) nothing (surrounded by whirlwind shield) Strategy: This boss is a lot easier than any previous boss, if only for the fact that you get fully healed before fighting it. Do the usual (Hiro using Poe Sword, Jean using her lowest-MP skill, Ronfar healing when necessary, Lemina using Flame Shot), and stop attacking when the boss puts up it's whirlwind shield. Resume attack when the shield drops. This is probably the easiest required boss in the game. -------------------- Say goodbye to big and ugly. Stupid ape... Go and wake up the woman lying over in the snow, and your job is (for the most part) done. Once you have the chance, head south to Meribia. Location: Meribia Suggested Level: 25-28 [D1MERIBIA] Items for Sale: Bastard Sword, Platinum Fan, Steel Bracelet, Platinum Gauntlet, Silver Armor, Purity Clothes, Platinum Hairpin Items Found: Herb, Dagger, Lemina's Bromide 2, Lemina's Bromide 3, Jessica's Bromide, Life Jewel, Earth Crest Meribia, the biggest damned city on the planet. And doesn't it figure that it has the least treasure chests, too? Lemina's bromides are both in Ramus' shop (talk to the old man in there a few times to get the first, and check the barrels along the back wall to get the second one). Jessica's Bromide can be recieved from the bard in the pub. Wander around town, buy new weapons and armor (running short on cash? I know the feeling...), and go talk to Master Lunn in his dojo. Jean will confide to him that she was once a member of the Shadow Dragon Cult (oh, the pasts of party members...) and that she wants to put a stop to them. Lunn will then tell you that the Shadow Cult is on Taben's Peak. Before you leave, be sure to raid Lunn's dojo thoroughly. The Earth Crest is a bit hard to spot, but it's in a chest just south of Lunn's throne room. After you're done raiding, it's off to the mountains! Location: Taben's Peak Suggested Level: 25-28 Monsters: Tormentor, Dream Leech, Octo Plant, Magic Hat Items: Life Jewel, Herb, Legendary Lid, Thunder Staff, Luck Ring, Spirit Mace As you walk through the entrance, you'll notice a small flying white cat fly north. If you've played Lunar 1, you might recognize it. Ruby will go nuts looking for it, and get caught by a kid named Nall. Doesn't this seem just a bit too eerie? He warns you to stay off of Taben's Peak, but who ever listens to kids, right? Er, anyway, climb up the metal walls of the cliff. ...Metal? Actually, Taben's Peak isn't natural. Remember the Grindery in Lunar 1? It wasn't moved, you know... Sort of rusted in place, so that's what you're climbing. The dungeon isn't too tough, and since there's no boss, you don't need to conserve MP or anything like that. Fight the monsters if you want, or avoid them. Just make sure that you grab the treasure chests (including the somewhat hard-to-spot chest with the Legendary Lid). Soon enough (after much harassment) you'll make it to the Dragon Kids' fort. Location: Dragon Kids' Fort Suggested Level: 26-28 Items: Cute Ribbon, Herb Whoops! Oh, well. Getting caught by kids must be extremely embarrassing. Talk to your party members, and when you get the chance, walk out of the cell (lenient, aren't they?) and upstairs. You can talk around if you want to, but there's not much to learn. Make sure you grab the Cute Ribbon in the workshop on the second floor, and the Herb out on the balcony. Then, go up to the third floor for an encounter with Nall and Lucia. A scream, hmm? Off to the balcony area! Damn those Shadow Cult members... Nall orders you to get the kids back, and takes Lucia away from the party to watch over the kids still at the fort. Ah well, she's not too helpful in battle most of the time, anyway. Back to Meribia... Location: Meribia Sewers Suggested Level: 26-28 Monsters: Fatal Hopper, Grog Snake, Gunfoot, Ammonia, Assassin (special) Items: Steel Shield, Star Light x3, Dew Ring, Quake Staff, Silver Light, Steel Helm, Healing Nut, Silk Dress The sewers aren't that hard to navigate, but there are a lot of treasures here (and many of them are handy). I hope you stocked up in town, since there are also a lot of monsters. Before facing off the bosses, head back to the entrance (via the shortcut, of course) and heal up. It's much easier to win with high HP and MP, trust me. The bosses can hardly be called that, though. They're easy, they're weak against poison and ice, and they can do about 70 damage at most. After this whole mess is over, and you finally have Lucia back in the party, head down Taben's Peak (via the lift), and east to Vane. Unfortunately, though, as soon as you enter Vane you get kicked out. Damn that Borgan and his inflated ego! So it's time to go south, to the Springs of Transmission. Location: Transmission Spring Suggested Level: 27-29 [D1VANE] Items: Mia's Bromide The man with the fork in this scene will give you the Bromide, if you happen to be wondering. Heal up, and walk onto the pentagram. Off to the Cave of Trial. Location: Cave of Trial Suggested Level: 27-29 Monsters: Giga Wasp, Death Shroom, Bat Knight Items: Thieves' Staff Fortunately for you, this dungeon is short and easy. Monsters aren't very powerful, nor very valuable, so it all works out. Make your way through the dungeon, and up to the surface of Vane. Oh, and you can't get the chest with the Thieves' Staff until later, so don't bother trying to open it yet. Location: Vane Suggested Level: 27-29 Items for Sale: Smash Saber, Rune Sword, Magic Staff, Flame Staff, Wind Staff, Water Staff, Thunder Staff, Quake Staff, Steel Shield, Magic Gauntlet, Platinum Armor, Silk Dress, Magician Robe, Steel Helm, Soul Bandanna, Bejeweled Hairpin Items Found: Lemina's Purse, Gorgon Doll, Seal Crest, Silver Light, Angel Ring, Lemina's Bromide 1, Thunder Crest Head straight for the mansion, and talk to Borgan twice. That damn tub of lard... Go up on the roof and try to give Lemina a pep talk (not money). Now then, it's time to start collecting the many treasure chests of Vane! The Bromide can be found in a book of poetry in the library, furthest shelf over on the middle right row. Once you've got the treasures (don't forget the Thieves' Staff from the Cave of Trial!), go south to the Sluice Forest. Location: Sluice Forest Suggested Level: 27-29 Monsters: Flytrapper, Killer Wasp, Giga Ant, Bloodbyrd Items: Vigor Ring, Star Light, Warrior Crest The bee and bird monsters here are not too tough, and net you a healthy amount of Silver. I suggest you fight here for a while (a long while), and collect enough to upgrade your equipment from the stock in Vane. As well, stock up so you can afford what they're selling in Azado later. Once you reach the pond, you get to see the second infamous Lunar 2 bath scene. Oh those zany kids these days... Leave the Sluice Forest when you're ready, and head on into Azado. Location: Azado Suggested Level: 28-30 [D1AZADO] Items for Sale: Smash Saber, Rune Sword, Jean's Fan, Platinum Shield, Platinum Bracelet, Ceremonial Clothes, Jean's Dress, Platinum Helm, Charm Bandanna Items Found: Angel Ring, Life Jewel, Safety Helmet This town seems a bit fear-laden. As Ronfar suggests, you should visit the sanctuary (after getting better equipment, naturally). You'll be informed that the person you're looking for is no longer with them, and that you might as well go visit his house. That sounds like a good idea, so head back into town, and to the only house that has a different color roof in the entire town. Talk to the child at the door, and soon enough, you'll be inside old Balse's house. Talk to him, and he'll tell you that there's a ship coming in that night that leaves for Pentagulia. Sounds a bit too easy, doesn't it? Once you feel you're ready, rest up. As night falls, your party sneaks out. The ship is off to the left, at the port. One quick glance should tell you that things are about to get ugly, seeing as the ship is none other than Dragonship Destiny. Even so, you have no choice... Go on-board, and get caught. D'oh! Fortunately for you, Azado starts to burn from "sacred fire" before Leo gets the chance to kill you, and he actually joins you. Now you have to make your way to the sanctuary (harder than it sounds now, trust me). Location: Azado Barbeque Suggested Level: 28-30 Monsters: Inferno Ghoul The town's in flames, and Inferno Ghouls are all around. You can keep going back to the Althena statue, so don't worry too much about preserving your MP (or HP). As you reach the old priest's house, you'll find out that his son was the one that told the sanctuary about what was going on. Isn't that just typical of devious religious groups? Keep going, and head on into the sanctuary. Feel free to use the Althena statue here (it does cost money), and then head up to the Goddess Image. Location: Goddess Image Suggested Level: 29-31 Monsters: Dieclops, Flying Knight, Nipple Yanker, Electro Eye Items: Star Light, Healing Ring, Healing Crest, Healing Nut, Silver Light This is a very straightforward dungeon, with only one side-path (which I do recommend you take, so you can get the Healing Ring and Healing Crest). Defeat everything you can, and then go back and heal up at the Althena statue on the first floor. You won't regret it. Save before exiting onto the statue's arm, and prepare yourself for a boss fight. -------------------- [BFLAMEFAN] Boss #5: Flame Fang HP: ~3,000 Suggested Level: 31-35 Exp.: 6,000 Silver: 0 Attacks: Flame strike (wings beating medium speed), power flame strike (wings beating very fast), flame wave (wings beating slowly) Strategy: I'd say that Flame Fang is one of the hardest bosses in RPG history, unless you're prepared. First things first: give Hiro your Wind Ring that you got earlier (I DO hope you got it), and have Leo take the forefront. Ronfar should cast Saint Litany on Leo for his first turn. Have Hiro use Poe Sword and Leo use Flash Blade, and have Ronfar heal when necessary (which will essentially be every turn). If you took my earlier tip about cleaning out the tower before fighting the boss, then you should be at full HP and MP, giving you a far greater chance to win. -------------------- After the mess in the temple is over, go back to the Destiny. Leo will agree to escort you to Pentagulia. After the last few scenes and FMV's of Disc 1, you'll find yourself at the disc switch screen. Congrats, on to Disc 2! II. Disc 2 Walkthrough [DISC2WALK] Location: Holy City Pentagulia Suggested Level: 31-35 [D2PENTAG] Welcome to Pentagulia, city of the Chosen. Upon leaving the Destiny, guess who shows up. Yep, elf-boy is back again, and now he's finally gotten his life-long dream job, Dragonmaster. Something seems a bit messed up about that, don't you think? Now your little group must part ways, so say goodbye to everybody, and head on up to the main cathedral. You can drop by the local homes, but nobody has any items or information of note. It won't take long to reach the citadel, and then you and Lucia get to see Althena! Lucia's not convinced (neither am I), so now you have to take up your calling as Lucia's guardian, and fight Ghaleon. -------------------- [BGHALEON1] Boss #6: Ghaleon HP: 65,535 Suggested Level: 31-35 Exp: N/A Silver: N/A Attacks: MP canceller (first move he uses), Teleport stab (a little lightning coming out of him), power slash (a lot of lightning coming out of him) Strategy: Well, you're supposed to lose this battle, so don't worry too much if you do. Trying to survive it is just futile, I'm sure, since even at level 35, he's more than a match for you. Although I'm sure that if you DID somehow survive, he'd use some sort of cheap omni-slash that reduces your HP by 999... I never bothered trying, as I realized it was a hopeless battle to begin with. -------------------- That was unfair, wasn't it? But what can you expect? He was hard to beat a thousand years ago at level 50, he's gonna be tough now at level 35. Anyway, after a bit of story sequence, you'll be in the prison on the top floor of the White Tower. Location: White Tower Suggested Level: 31-35 Monsters: Sgt. Slaughter, Corp. Crusher Items Found: Healing Ring, Platinum Blade, Life Jewel Well, it sure is boring in the prison, isn't it? Of course, help is on it's way (isn't it always?). Mystere rescues you! If you can't figure out who's behind that mask, take a hint from Hiro and Ruby... With "Mystere" in tow, the tower's enemies shouldn't be too tough (be sure to grab the treasures, though!). Head down below Pentagulia from the first floor of the White Tower. Location: Under Pentagulia Suggested Level: 31-35 Monsters: Flame Reaper, Sgt. Slaughter, Flash Lord, Assassin Items Found: None From here, you have a choice of where to go next. I do suggest you go to the Red Tower first, to get Ronfar. Location: Red Tower Suggested Level: 31-35 Monsters: Flame Reaper, Gargoyle Items Found: Silver Light, Hellfire Staff This tower's a bit tough, but if you don't go for the item chests until you get Ronfar, it won't be a problem. Ronfar tells you what happened (ow, Leo's sister sure is mean), and then rejoin. Leave the tower, go back under Pentagulia, heal up, and then make your way to the Blue Tower. Location: Blue Tower Suggested Level: 31-35 Monsters: Mercenary, Assassin Items Found: Jewel Gauntlet, Ritual Hairpin An easy enough tower. The monsters here are no challenge, now that you have Ronfar to heal you. Once you reach the top floor, Jean will rejoin you, and tell you of what happened to her. Well, well, well... Who didn't see that coming, by the way? Back down you go, and on to the Black Tower. Location: Black Tower Suggested Level: 31-35 Monsters: Flash Lord, Dark Sorcerer Items Found: Jewel Gauntlet, Ritual Hairpin Still not a very hard tower, especially not with four of your allies in tow. Make your way up, and free Lemina. She tells you what happened to her, too. Borgan's such a narcissistic bastard... Down the tower you go, recruiting Leo (gee, how'd he get there? :P) and making your way to the statue back in the underground tunnels. Face it from the front, and talk to it. Leo will open it, and you can head on in. Location: Pentagulia Citadel Suggested Level: 32-35 It won't take long to find Lucia. Just make your way through, and down into the main chamber of the citadel. Lucia is being berated by "Althena" (who apparently died her hair black, if she IS Althena) and Ghaleon. After the conversation is over, Leo runs off (as always), and you can go save Lucia. With Lucia back in the party, leave the citadel main room through the southern exit, and head back through the audience chamber to the balcony that's to the extreme south of it. From here, Lucia will show you that the lake below is an illusion, and you'll all jump down to behold the Goddess Tower! Of course, you can't get in (thanks to the fake Althena), but before she can summon all of her minions to thrash you, you vanish. Now, Zophar seems only slightly miffed from this, which is odd. He has a pleasant little chat with his minions, and tells them essentially to stall you as best they can. Location: Taben's Peak Suggested Level: 32-35 Same as before Back to the party, you're now once again at Taben's Peak! Nall used the White Dragon Wings he gave you earlier to pull you back to him (damn I love those things). Lucia reveals the obvious, and states that Nall is the White Dragon, which he doesn't deny. He then tells you of how Ghaleon took his power, and that Leo now has it. You'll also be informed that the Dragonship Destiny is out near Vane. How convenient, Leo's probably on it! Location: Dragonship Destiny Suggested Level: 32-35 Yep, there's Leo. Talk to him, and he'll give a little spiel on good and evil, then challenge Hiro to a duel. -------------------- [BLEODUEL] Boss #7: Leo HP: 600 Suggested Level: 33-35 Exp: 6,000 Silver: N/A Attacks: Flash Blade (spinning sword), Buzz Blade (spinning sword), Healing Nut (standing there stupidly) Strategy: Not really too tough, but be sure to have at least two Healing Nuts handy before you talk to him to fight him. He cheaply heals himself entirely on his 3rd turn, as long as you've damaged him at least once. I don't think he does it ever again, so just attack normally the first two turns. Once he's wasted his healing item, whoop him good with Poe Sword. -------------------- Now that Leo's down, he gives you the Dragonship Destiny. Great! Now you just have to find Nall's cave. Caldor Isle, here we come! It's where it was in Lunar 1, northwest of Meribia, so sail on out to it. Unfortunately, now Caldor Isle is nothing but ice... No Burg or Saith... Oh well. Go into the cave. Location: White Dragon Cave Suggested Level: 32-35 [D2WHITEDR] Monsters: Shiro Mongrel, Chiro Mongrel, Mutant Fly, Mecha Star, Yeti Items: Star Light, Snake Ring, Endurance Ring, Chiro Crest, Wind Crest, Angel Ring, Ice Staff, Vitality Vial The cave is a bit long, but not excessively so. The monsters here are a might bit tougher than usual, but also give better experience, so feel free to level up a bit. Also, try to steal from the Chiro Mongrels whenever you fight them via Lemina's Thieves' Staff weapon. Chiro Crests rule... Er, anyway, to get past the icy barricades, let monsters run into them or shoot them for you. You'll reach the boss in no time. Be sure to save when your entire party is once again shown (instead of just Hiro). Then, go and face off the White Fiend! -------------------- [BWHITEF] Boss #8: White Fiend HP: 3,000 Suggested Level: 35-40 Exp.: 11,000 Silver: 0 Attacks: Stat raising (pentagram underneath it), field shift (circle of energy beneath it), ice bomb (horns glowing), sleepy ice (head raising, breathing ice-fire) Strategy: Ah, the first Fiend... This one is deceptively easy, especially if you've gotten two Chiro Crests, and have them equipped on Ronfar. When the Fiend changes the field, have Lemina use Erase Magic (the manual says that fire and thunder are more effective, but that's a blatant lie; ice is more effective). Have Ronfar heal when necessary (In other words, pretty much every turn), have Jean use her lowest MP skill, have Hiro use Poe Sword, have Lemina use Flame Shot... All of the usual precautions. The boss will fall quite quickly. -------------------- With the battle over, you can make your way into the dragon chamber. If you've played Lunar 1, you probably recognize the music here. Head up to where the White Dragon should be, and watch as Hiro releases Nall from his seal. One down, three to go! Nall will melt the ice blocking the passage south for you, allowing you to reach Horam. Location: Horam Suggested Level: 34-40 [D2HORAM] Items for Sale: Platinum Blade, Samurai Sword, Flaying Flail, Warrior Shield, Bejeweled Bracelet, Jewel Gauntlet, Warrior Armor, Holy Clothes, Immortal Robe, Warrior Helm, Prayer Bandanna, Ritual Hairpin, Warrior Crest, Power Crest Items Found: Life Jewel, Herb, Protection Ring, Blue Pajamas, Rubber Boots, Star Light Ah, Horam... The only place that you can buy Warrior Crests (which I suggest you do right now). As you enter the dojo, you'll hear about how Lunn's bound to win the tournament now, and that nobody in the dojo is willing to risk their lives facing him. Jean would be a good candidate, though... Head on up, and Jean will offer her services. A short sequence later, Jean becomes your best fighting character so far. :) From here, you can do one of two things. You can either go straight to the tournament and win it (a fair idea), or you can go to the Blue Dragon Cave and level up a bit (a better idea). Do as you wish, and when you're ready, head to the tournament. Location: Martial Arts Arena Suggested Level: 34-40 Items for Sale: Dream Crest, Charm Crest Items Found: None The tournament is just starting, so get yourself prepped for it. Only Ronfar, Hiro, and Jean are going to participate, so don't wory about Lemina or Lucia. Prepare and equip accordingly. The fights in the tournament are far from difficult, and you can heal up at the Althena statue after each fight, so don't worry about going all-out. In due time, you will have won, and the only thing left to do is to show Lunn the truth. Heal, save, and prepare Jean for the coming duel... -------------------- [BLUNNDUEL] Boss #9: Lunn HP: 2,000 Suggested Level: 35-40 Exp.: 8,800 Silver: 0 Attacks: Double blow (doing nothing), drop kick (crouched with one leg sticking out), dragon blow (in a fighting stance), heal (doing nothing) Strategy: Lunn is a tricky boss, and easy to lose to if you get careless. His best attacks will do about 120 damage or so, so try to keep your HP up around there. You'll need a few Healing Nuts to survive this fight, most likely. Use Dopple Dance if you want (I never much cared for it), and give Lunn a few fistfuls of Blue Dragon Palm. He should die soon enough. -------------------- After the battle, Lunn concedes defeat, and gives you the Blue Dragon Aura. Now you can go take on the biggest of the dragon caves! Location: Blue Dragon Cave Suggested Level: 35-40 [D2BLUEDR] Monsters: Doom Rigger, Scurvy Slug, Tiger Shark, Water Elemental, Aqua Assassin Items Found: Hurricane Staff, Holy Water, Anti-Magic Ring, Revenge Crest, Angel's Tear, Angel Ring, Plasma Ring, Gold Hairpin, Star Light This cave is excessively long, but very straightforward. I suggest you take it in a few trips, so you can get all of the items. Also, you can beat the Doom Riggers in this cave if you have two Chiro Crests: equip them both on Jean, and use Blue Dragon Palm on them. You get 3000 experience for each Doom Rigger defeated! Anyway, back to the game... You'll find the Blue Fiend on the bottom floor, quite easily visible, so save before you approach (duh). -------------------- [BBLUEF] Boss #10: Blue Fiend HP: 4,500 Suggested Level: 39-45 Exp.: 16,500 Silver: 0 Attacks: Field shift (spitting watter), zone rain (doing nothing), deadly rain (horns glowing), heal (pentagram underneath it) Strategy: Apparently, this boss is harder. I didn't notice, though, since I've never fought it at a level lower than 45. Anyway, Ronfar is probably going to be doing a lot of healing in this battle, and Lemina is going to be kept busy in the same manner as the last fiend battle. The strategy for the White Fiend battle pretty much works here, too (except that Jean should use Dopple Dance and Blue Dragon Palm). An easy battle, in my experience. -------------------- After the fight, go on into the Blue Dragon's sanctuary. The dragon gives you his crest (as did Nall), and tell you to seek out the Black Dragon next. He then frees the way to do just that. Once you're back outside, sail the Destiny forward, and watch as it gets a little present from Neo Vane. Damn that Borgan! Time to huff it on foot, I suppose. There's a cave nearby (how convenient), so enter it. Location: Zaback Mines Suggested Level: 39-45 Monsters: Boomba Baby, Big Boomba, Boomba Boy, Elder Boomba Items: Silver Light, Passion Fruit, Fresh Ring, Angel's Tear, Rusty Dagger, Star Light, Earth Ring, 32S The monsters in this cave are very easy to dodge, and really not worth fighting. Get all of the treasures, and then make your way into Zaback proper. Location: Zaback Suggested Level: 40-46 [D2ZABACK] Items for Sale: Amethyst Mace, Black Panther Claw, Amethyst Bracelet, Leopard Armlet, Battle Clothes, Ninja Wrap, Spirit Bandanna, Amethyst Hairpin, Mind Crest, Snake Crest Items Found: Peasant Clothes, Passion Fruit, Life Jewel This town's a bit repressed. Buy new equipment, heal up, and then head up to Neo Vane. Location: Neo Vane Suggested Level: 40-46 Items for Sale: Amethyst Sword, Amethyst Shield, Mystic Gauntlet, Amethyst Armor, Wisdom Robe, Amethyst Helm, Anti-Magic Ring, Magic Eye Crest Items Found: Life Jewel, Herb, Luck Ring Before you can enter the city proper, you have to take an aptitude test of sorts, to see if you are worthy of entering. How low is that? Ronfar and Jean fail the test (why Ronfar does is beyond me, but...), so now it's just Hiro, Lemina, and Lucia. Buy some new stuff for Hiro and Lemina, and get all of the items lying around, then head down into the Neo Trial Cave, at the rear of the town. Location: Neo Trial Cave Suggested Level: 40-46 Monsters: Rock Biter, Dark Lord, Gorgon, Scream Sphere Items: Healing Ring, Clear Ring, Star Light, Earth Staff, Silver Light An annoying dungeon, but not difficult. On the second floor, you'll run back into your allies, so be sure to recruit them once more. Head down to the basement, grabbing everything as you go, and makes your way to the teleporter that leads to Borgan's mansion. Location: Borgan's Mansion Suggested Level: 42-50 Items: Silver Light, Red Pajamas Just go upstairs, grab the Silver Light, and then beat up Borgan. -------------------- [BBORGAN] Boss #11: Borgan HP: 4,000 Suggested Level: 42-50 Exp: 18,700 Silver: 0 Attacks: MP sucker (red dragon head glowing), magic bomber (yellow dragon head glowing), status changer (blue dragon head glowing), destruction pillars (all heads glowing) Strategy: I don't know why people consider Borgan hard. I know he was in the Sega CD version, but in the PSX version, he hardly does any damage at all. Just use your best one-enemy spells and skills on him, and he'll be toast in very short order. -------------------- With that over, go upstairs (stopping first in the far left room to get the Red Pajamas) and save Lemina's mother. Of course, Neo Vane is now falling, since you took the Black Dragon Aura from Borgan, but Lucia steadies the landing (isn't she so nice?). Cheer Borgan up now (feh), and take the Mine Key he gives you back to the Zaback mines. There's a door in the rear of them that leads to the Black Dragon's domain. Location: Black Dragon Cave Suggested Level: 42-50 [D2BLACKDR] Monsters: Zombie, Webhead, Soul Yanker, Chaos Fiend Items: Healing Nut, Lightning Staff, Angel Ring, Force Ring, Star Dagger, 312S, Angel's Tear, Passion Fruit, Hunter Crest, Star Light, Stardust Ring This is probably one of the most annoying dungeons so far. Try to keep your MP fairly high (don't waste it, in other words), and get all of the treasures (one of which is very easy to miss; keep your eyes peeled!). Eventually, you'll be facing the Black Fiend (be sure to save before you fight!). -------------------- [BBLACKF] Boss #12: Black Fiend HP: 4,750 Suggested Level: 43-52 Exp.: 24,200 Silver: 0 Attacks: MP drain (wings emitting black & blue smoke), energy ring (wings pointing up high), paralyzer (head swinging back & forth), grinder (head lifted) Strategy: My LEAST liked Fiend. He's essentially immune to all physical damage, and can suck away MP. Can we say "unfair"? White Dragon Protect is vital for surviving this fight. Have Lemina equip the Crest for that, and have her use it every other turn! For the intervening turns, use Ice Arrows. Everybody else should use their best single target spells (Jean's going to be very useless in this battle unless you give her some elemental Crests), and have Ronfar heal as necessary. Eventually, the boss will croak. -------------------- Now, go and revive the Black Dragon! The Destiny is free to move again, so you can make your way onward to the last dragon! First, though, a quick stop in Raculi. Location: Raculi Suggested Level: 43-52 [D2RACULI] Items for Sale: Master Sword, Prayer Mace, White Tiger Claw, Hunter Crest, Seal Crest Items Found: Silver Light, Passion Fruit, Yellow Pajamas Buy some new weapons, heal up, get the items lying around, and listen to the local gossip. It seems that Ronfar's sister is still being quite evil, and has gotten even more evil as of late. Also, be sure to talk with Leo a bit (he's up on the cliff at first, and then at his house). Hmm... Better go to Serak Palace and find out the whole truth! Location: Serak Palace Suggested Level: 43-52 Monsters: Arrow Fish, Blyzzer, Necromancer, Archmage Items: Holy Hairpin, Tiger Wrap, Life Jewel x2, Star Light, Master Helm, Miracle Clothes, Psycho Gauntlet, Silver Light This dungeon's really quite easy, but as I've said many a time, I level up too much, so your results may vary. Note that there's a semi-hidden room in this dungeon: on the way to the room with Althena's Aura, try walking against the southern walls of each room. As for the rest of the dungeon, grab everything (as usual), and make your way to the proper room. Lucia will find and activate Althena's Tears, and that should restore Mauri. Now, leave this dungeon and go to the main room of Serak Palace! And who should be there but the troublemaker himself? Yep, Leo's back, and he's about to kill Mauri (typical of him). Ronfar talks some reason into him, but unfortunately, Mauri's not all better yet. Now it's time for a rather annoying sequence, as Ronfar visits Mauri from within. Inside Mauri's ego, there's just a few things you need to do. First off, make sure you check out the little specks that show up along the path. Second, you should doubt the Mauri's that you meet along the way. After doubting each Mauri, you'll have to fight Mauri's Id with the rest of your party (see below). Once it's down to just one Mauri, you'll be taken back to the entrance of the memories, and have to view another memory. Then, talk to the new Mauri (low center one), and end the boss battle. -------------------- [BMAURI_ID] Boss #13: Mauri's Id HP: 4,000 Suggested Level: 43-52 Exp: 29,430 Silver: 0 Sub-part: Head x5 HP: 2,000 each Attacks: Fire breath Sub-part: Skull Head HP: 2,000 Attacks: ??? (eyes glowing, mouth opening, flaming tongues) Strategy: This battle was incredibly easy for me, but then again, I level up far too much. Only attack the head that is currently aflame when you enter the battle each time, and once the big skull-thing pops out, focus on killing it. -------------------- Ahuh... Easy battle (for me, anyway). Mauri and Ronfar have a short and touching scene together, and then Mauri's back to her regular self! She gives you the Red Dragon Aura, and opens the path to the last dragon cave. Now that the way is open, it's time to conquer the Red Dragon's domain! Go on through the revealed doorway, and go into the cave (after Ruby and Nall have a short shout-fest). Location: Red Dragon Cave Suggested Level: 43-52 [D2REDDR] Monsters: Blood Slime, Inferno Ghoul, Pyromaniac, Flame Berzerker Items: Holy Hairpin, Healing Nut, Life Jewel, Dyne's Armor, Star Light x2, Tiger Armlet, Passion Fruit, Ogre Crest, Water Ring, Angel's Tear x2, Shield Ring, Angel Ring The cave isn't too convoluted (most of Lunar 2's dungeons aren't, with the possible exception of the Black Dragon Cave), but it is the second-longest of the Dragon Caves. Get all of the fine armor lying around in the cave while you're here, and make your way to the boss as best you can. Soon enough, you'll be fighting the Red Fiend. -------------------- [BREDF] Boss #14: Red Fiend HP: 10,750 Suggested Level: 45-55 Exp.: 36,300 Silver: 0 Attacks: Field shift (flashing, fire ring below it), flame row (doing nothing), strength boost (pentagram underneath it), flame bomber (wings opening and closing) Strategy: This boss was easy for me, since I was too high a level when I faced it. The strategy is about what you'd think it'd be: use Poe Sword (or Triple Sword, if you leveled up a lot like I did), have Lemina use Ice Arrows (and Erase Magic when the field shifts), have Jean use Dopple Dance (or Slam Dance) and Blue Dragon Palm, and have Ronfar cast Divine Litany the first turn and heal every turn after. The boss should be dead in short order. -------------------- Now, head on in, and watch Ruby's touching scene. Awww, what a cute dragon she makes... Anyway, once you're done with that, it's time to leave the cave (with the White Dragon Wings, of course). As you exit the Red Dragon Cave, you may notice that the sky has taken on a new, darker cast. Uh, oh... Anyway, head to the Destiny, and then take off towards the holy city of Pentagulia. Now, for some action! I can't imagine this scene looking so cool in the original Sega CD version... Now, drive into Pentagulia's dock (or rather, what's left of it), and head on into Althena's Road! Location: Althena's Road Suggested Level: 45-55 [D2RETURN] Monsters: Reflector, Stone Creep, Stone Guard, Bomb Angel Items: Vitality Vial, Healing Nut, Holy Water, Holy Mace, Crushing Fist, Master Shield, Holy Bracelet, Aura Bandanna, Aura Robe I really don't like this dungeon... Try to avoid monster encounters, and get as many of the items as possible. About midway through the tower, you will get to witness yet another FMV involving the past, and the devestation of the Blue Star. Keep going up, and you'll soon find yourself in a thin corridor with an Althena statue off to one side (which you should use). From there, it's a straight walk to the Goddess Tower! Location: Goddess Tower Suggested Level: 47-55 Monsters: Reflector, Stone Creep, Stone Guard, Bomb Angel Items: Life Jewel, Passion Fruit, Silver Light, Angel's Tear, Spirit Talisman, Star Light, Goddess Crest, Tri-Ring Ah, the Goddess Tower... Probably the most pleasantly short dungeon in this game. Of course, you DO have to fight a boss right at the entrance of it, but oh well... -------------------- [BFAKEALTH] Boss #15: Fake Althena HP: 10,750 Suggested Level: 47-55 Exp: 40,000 Silver: 0 Attacks: Defense up (holding flaming staff over head), staff toss (twitching tail), poison sting (sweeping tail), ??? (chanting) Strategy: Quite frankly, this boss is easy. The strategy from above should work just as well against this boss (minus Erase Magic, as this boss can't shift the field). -------------------- Well, that was pointless, if I do say so myself. Head up the tower, and kill everything in it (you won't regret it, trust me). Be sure to pick up the three coolest items in the game: the Tri-Ring, the Spirit Talisman, and the Goddess Crest! I suggest you give Hiro the Tri-Ring and Goddess Crest (along with a Warrior Crest), and give Lemina the Spirit Talisman. NOTE: if you want to gain a whole buttload of levels right now, go back to the White Dragon Cave (I know, it's a hell of a treck), and lay the smack-down on some Chiro Mongrels. This will essentially be your last chance until the extreme end of the game to do so. Anyway, as I was saying, keep going up, collect all items, and soon you'll be at the apex of the tower. Nall activates a magic hologram, and that's your first clue as to what's going on here. Watch and see as the threads that link Lunar 1 and 2 are sewn together even more tightly. Talk to Lucia twice, and... Jeez! I'd say that was rather inconsiderate of her, but I guess I'm in no position to judge... Anyway, now that you're a shadow of your former self, head down the tower (aren't you glad I told you to kill the monsters earlier?), and you'll (mercifully) be transported right to the entrance of Pentagulia. Take to the Destiny, and watch the cinematics. Can we say "dramatic confrontation"? The end of disc 2 is proof that using FMV's in Lunar 2 was a good idea... III. Disc 3 Walkthrough Dun dun dun! Welcome to the short but intense final disc of Lunar 2... Location: Vane Suggested Level: 48-55 [D3VANE] Items Received: Ghaleon's Sword Head on down and talk to Lemina's mother, Miria. She'll tell you to go talk to your allies, so go and do that. You'll find Jean off to the left of the guild, sparring with Lunn, Ronfar in the library, giving a pep talk, and Lemina in the Cave of Trial, trying to remember how to use magic. Head back to talk to Miria, and then head back up to the roof. Leo joins you (at last), and then heads off to wait for you on the Destiny. But as you try to leave, who should appear but everybody's favorite elfling? Ghaleon will give poor Hiro a beating, and then the rest of your party will come up to give you support. Time to fight Ghaleon. And without magic, as well. This is gonna be a hell of a hard battle, right? Well, not really, seeing as Ghaleon holds back his strength, but even so, be ready. -------------------- [BGHALEON2] Boss #16: Ghaleon HP: 3,250 Suggested Level: 48-55 Exp: N/A Silver: N/A Attacks: Teleport sword (some lighting coming off of him), sword slash (holding sword up) Strategy: You really don't have much of a choice at this point. Just use physical attacks, and heal with Healing Nuts if necessary. -------------------- After that bit of tedium, Ghaleon will show you what a bad-ass he is, and knock you all out. Don't worry, though, revenge will be your's soon, as the entire party pulls a Dragonball Z on you, and regains their MP! Now, time to give Ghaleon a whooping he'll never forget... -------------------- [BGHALEON3] Boss #17: Ghaleon HP: 6,500 Suggested Level: 48-55 Exp: 50,000 Silver: N/A Attacks: (both of the above), white meteor (glowing white), ??? (small amounts of energy coming off of him) Strategy: Now that you have your skills back, use them! I was grotesquely over-leveled when I faced Ghaleon off, so I can't offer a very good tactic to use, except to advise that you do the same things that you did against the Fake Althena boss. -------------------- What a whimp. Now, with Ghaleon's Sword equipped, you're ready to go take the big nasty himself on, Zophar! Tell Ghaleon that you're ready, and that you'll find a way to save Lucia. Off you go to Zophar's Domain (er, wait, that's a webpage, isn't it?)! Of course, you get an obligatory chat with Lucia before you head in, and then it's show time! Location: Zophar's Keep Suggested Level: 49-55 [D3ZOPHARK] Monsters: Crazy Crab, Snatcher, Mecha Star, Hades, Masher, Ice Seed, Spark Seed, Wind Seed, Lunar Seed, Fire Seed, Fiend Gate Items: Life Jewel x3, Silver Light x3, Fiend Ring This is it, Zophar's Keep, the final dungeon. The music really sets the mood nicely, if I do say so myself. Anyway, the monsters in this tower are all quite difficult (unless, like me, you're grotesquely over-leveled). Do your best to reserve your Star Lights, though, and if you're running low on MP, just use the White Dragon Wings and recover with the Althena statue on the Dragonship Destiny. Yeah, you have to go back through the keep, but if you're running out of MP before you reach the final tier of Zophar's Keep then you probably need to gain a level or two anyway. The keep has five levels, and about 10 different types of monsters, so be ready for a long and tiring dungeon experience. Before long, you'll be at the fifth floor staring at the final set of stairs that lead to Zophar. Before you head up to the final layer and face of Zophar, I suggest you equip your allies for the fights ahead. I've outlined my own setup below, which is a bit hard to match if you didn't get larcenous on the Chiro Mongrels in the White Dragon's Cave. Feel free to manipulate and move things around, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't get much better than this. And no matter what your setup, be sure to have Ronfar heal the party up, then restore everybody's MP (in that order)! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Character Accessories and Crests Hiro Tri-Ring & Healing Ring; Warrior & Goddess Crests Ronfar Healing & Angel Ring; 2 Chiro Crests (I hope you have 2!) Jean Healing & Fresh Ring; Blue Dragon & Chiro Crests Lemina Spirit Talisman & Angel Ring; White Dragon Crest, any other Leo Whatever you have left over (He's not that useful now) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Oh, and on a final note, I HIGHLY recommend you save your game before heading up. When you're ready, head on up and watch the madness ensue! -------------------- [BZOPHAR1] Boss #18: Zophar (1st form) HP: 16,000 Suggested Level: 52-56 Exp.: 0 Silver: 0 Attacks: Muting attack (doing nothing), flaming field (arms low in front of him), broken mirror (arms raised), energy blast (arms down at side) Strategy: This is actually quite simple. Have Jean use her Blue Dragon Palm to soften this bugger up (you might want to use Slam Dance, as well), have Hiro use Triple Sword, have Ronfar use Tranqil Litany, have Lemina alternate between attacking with Ice Arrows and raising Hiro's attack power, and have Leo use Earth Prayer and Flash Blade. This boss is toast in very short order. -------------------- Thought it was over? Didn't think so. After the fanfare you'll start the battle, but the music should hint to you that you can't actually do any killing yet. I HIGHLY reccomend that you power characters up, and move everybody away from each other with Defend (since this boss has several zone-type attacks). Don't bother to restore MP, only worry about HP. Have Lemina raise Hiro and Jean's attack power, and have Leo use Earth Prayer. If you want, you can try to take out the two hands that attack you during this sequence, but that does mean that you'll be less prepared for taking on the rest of Zophar. It's your call. Once Lucia's little spiel is over and you hear the music change, it's time for... -------------------- [BZOPHAR2] Boss #19: Zophar (2nd form) HP: ~20,000 Suggested Level: 52-56 Exp: 0 Silver: 0 Attacks: Confusion attack (eyes glowing red), poison attack (eyes glowing green), paralysis attack (eyes glowing yellow), energy storm (forehead gem glowing white), lightning blow (eyes glowing yellow + forehead hem glowing white) Dispel Magic (forehead gem sparkling, eyes closed) Sub-Parts: (Magic-using hand) - HP: ~10,000 Attacks: Fire, Ice, Thunder, Earth, and Wind-elemental Zone-based attacks (Effect hand) - HP: ~10,000 Attacks: Deadly attack (hand covering blue sphere), steal MP (finger shooting blue spark), steal HP (hand covering blue sphere), dark wave (hand glowing deep red) (Both energy ball hands) - HP: ~8,000 Attacks: Energy ball Strategy: Here it is, the big fight! There are two basic strategies, and several sub-strategies within those. STRATEGY 1: Attempt only to kill the main body of Zophar, ignoring the four hands. This strategy is risky, to say the least. Don't try it if you're not about level 55 or above. I managed to pull it off at level 69, and (of course) at level 94. STRATEGY 2: Defeat all four hands, and then defeat Zophar. This strategy takes a long time, and requires a lot of MP. So, what to do, right? Well, here's my reccomendation: defeat the two inner hands (one is weak against magic, the other strong against it), and then take Zophar himself on. Have Lemina use White Dragon Protect every other turn, have Ronfar heal every turn (aren't you glad I told you to give him 2 Chiro Crests?), and attack or use magic accordingly against the two hands. Once it's down to just Zophar, use your best single-target or multi-target skills (whatever does the most damage), and be sure to keep healing and using White Dragon Protect. The battle takes (in my experience) about 45 minutes to complete at level 55. Yeah, it's a long battle. At level 94, though, it only takes 3 turns to win. :) -------------------- After all of that, you'd expect that it's over, right? Of course not! Don't worry, the next battle is just an obligatory "hero-vanquishes-the- evil-one" battle that you could only lose if you tried to lose it. -------------------- [BZOPHAR3] Boss #20: Zophar (3rd) HP: ~3,000 Suggested Level: 52-56 Exp: 0 Silver: 0 Moves: Bite (mouth opening/closing), ??? (chanting) Strategy: Pah, this is pitiful! Just have Hiro use Triple Sword a few times (if even twice), and this boss is ancient history. I guess this is a welcome finish to the game, seeing as most every other boss battle is a struggle for survival... -------------------- That's that. Enjoy the ending! Oh, but don't shut off your PlayStation until you've saved after the credits have rolled. Once you do, you can access the coolest part of Lunar 2: the Epilogue! The epilogue is full of fun stuff, including an item that lets you watch every FMV in the game (once you go to the area that you first saw them in) and one that lets you hear any song in the game! As well, there's a final, fairly short quest that you can undertake, several optional dungeons to try yourself in, and several new items to get (including a good deal of Bromides). IV. Epilogue [EPILOGWLK] Well, here you are, at the extreme end of Lunar 2. You've got free reign of the entire world with the Dragonship Destiny, and several new places to explore. Here's a neat little guide of things to do during the epilogue. [EPPARTY] REGAINING YOUR PARTY MEMBERS - Naturally, you'll have to go re-assemble the party (unless you're actually crazy enough to go through the epilogue with only Hiro). They can be found in the following locations: Ronfar: Raculi Village (in his house, duh) Jean: Carnival (around the caravan) Lemina: Vane (in the magic guild's main hall) Leo: On top of Ghaleon's tower, the Mystic Ruins (get him last) [EPITEMS] GETTING VARIOUS ITEMS - There are lots of neat items that you can get during the epilogue, and without much effort, at that! Here are the freebies. REMEMBERIZER CRYSTAL - This is a relatively short and easy quest to undertake, and it nets you one of the coolest items in the game! Go to East Nota, and talk to the poor hapless bride inside the bridge house. Then, head to the pub in West Nota, and give the message to the guy drinking booze. Tell him not to give up so easily, and watch the fun ensue! Isn't Hiro a nice guy? :P ALTHENA'S SWORD - Yep, you can get this sword, all right! Nall has it, up on Taben's Peak. Just talk to him a bit, and he hands it right over! It's quite powerful, and definitely Hiro's best weapon. [EPEXP] EXPERIENCE OVERLOAD! - You can get a lot of experience at this point in the game, and from monsters in an earlier dungeon, at that! How? Go back to the White Dragon Cave, and fight Chiro Mongrels. They have about 1,000 HP or so, and everything is ineffective against them, but with Triple Sword, you can reduce them to a fine paste in short order. If you plan to do this, though, equip your party and attack as follows: Character Equip Attack Hiro Goddess and Warrior Crests Triple Sword Ronfar Thunder and Earth Crests Pulse Explosion Jean Anything Blue Dragon Palm Lemina Anything Catastrophe Leo Anything Soul Blade You should be able to reduce a single Chiro Mongrel to nothing with that setup, if your level is high enough. You get 33,333 experience and 11,111 silver for each Chiro Mongrel you beat! That's the best exp. in the game, and certainly a healthy amount of silver to win from one monster! Keep fighting them, and you can get to level 99 with relative ease. After you reach about level 75, you will be able to kill two Chiro Mongrels, making the task go by almost twice as fast! [EPBROMIDE] GETTING BROMIDES - There are tons of Bromides you can access now! Below is a guide to how to get EVERY Bromide (in case, like me, you missed a few during the regular game). Note that I have confirmed the existence and method of getting all of these. Luna's Bromide - Talk to the old woman living in the house near the entrance of Vane (it's off to the left a bit), and she'll give it to you (only during the Epilogue). Mia's Bromide - Get this one from the man standing in the northern area of the Vane teleport pads. Jessica's Bromide - Get this one from a man in Meribia's bar. Lucia's Bromide 1 - Talk to the man in Larpa right outside the house that Lucia watches a woman's baby in any time after Lucia is cured of her curse, and has started to wander around Larpa. Lucia's Bromide 2 - Get it from the baby in the crib on Taben's Peak during the epilogue. Lucia's Bromide 3 - Given to you by a fairy in Ghaleon's tower, during the epilogue. Jean's Bromide 1 - Found in the Drunken Karate dojo. Talk to the old man to recieve this one. You can only get it in the epilogue. Jean's Bromide 2 - You can get this from a member of Jean's caravan after the boss battle against Plantella. Jean's Bromide 3 - Buy it for 3000 silver from a merchant in Carnival. I don't think Jean appreciates this one... :P You can only buy it during the epilogue. Lemina's Bromide 1 - Find it in a book of poetry in the far eastern corner, the furthest bookshelf over on that side, in the Vane library. Lemina's Bromide 2 - It's in a barrel in Ramus' shop. But, you can't get it until you get Lemina's Bromide 3 from the old man in the same shop. Lemina's Bromide 3 - Keep talking to the old man in Ramus' shop to get this one. If you miss it early on, you have to wait until the epilogue to get this Bromide. Mauri's Bromide 1 - Mauri gives this to you after Ronfar joins the party during the epilogue. Borgan's Bromide - Um, get it from Borgan during the epilogue. Don't look at it if you value your ability to see, though... O_o Nall's Bromide - Get it from one of the children in the room closest to the stairway up to Nall's room on Taben's peak, during the epilogue. This one is cute. Mystere's Bromide - Heheh... Get this one from the guard of the northern gate of Takkar, during the epilogue. Lucia's Bromide 4 - Found in a chest in the prison up on Taben's Peak, during the epilogue. Jean's Bromide 4 - Get it from a chest near Jean's caravan during the epilogue. Lemina's Bromide 4 - Get it from a chest in the sewers of Meribia during the epilogue. Ooh, if she knew about this one... :P Mauri's Bromide 2 - Heheheh... Get this one from a chest in Raculi during the epilogue. Hiro's Bromide - This one's kind of hard to get to. It's at the top of Lionhead, the dungeon that, well, looks like a lion head. Ghaleon's Bromide - Found at the top of the Mystic Ruins, in the room with the record of the fall of Vane, during the epilogue. Borgan's Bromide X - Amazingly hard to find, this Bromide can be found in Vane during the epilogue, right in the middle of the curtain in the main hall of the magic guild. Press X and O repeatedly over the center until you hear a confirmation noise. [EPDUNGEON] SECRET DUNGEONS - There are 7 new dungeons available during the epilogue. Here's where you can find them. Dragon's Nest - Just north of where Pentagulia was. Lost Labyrinth - At the site where the caravan parked, in the area between the two baths. Water Ruins - In the area where Lucia has her second infamous bath scene, fairly close to Vane. Brave Dungeon - A cave north of Horam. Dragon Ruins - Where the game started, actually. Deja vu, eh? Lionhead - On a small island between the Black and Red Dragon sanctuaries. Star Dragon Tower - In the Starlight Forest (remember when you saw it early in the game, but couldn't go in?) Each dungeon offers new monsters, items, weapons, and armor, as well as several extremely useful Crests and accessories. [EPDRGNEST] Dragon's Nest Monsters: Blood Wyburn (sic), Doppleganger/Death Doll, Harpy Items: Goddess Hairpin, Nameless Sword, Dragon Shield, Sage's Staff, Life Jewel, Silver Light, Chaos Armor, Gale Crest This place was available earlier on in the Sega CD version, apparently... Anyway, the path through it is quite straightforward, but be wary of the nasty Doppleganger enemies. They can take on the form of your party members, and MAN are they hard to beat before they can morph. Persevere, and be sure to take along 20 Star Lights (you can buy them in Vane, remember?), and you should find yourself standing before the chest with the Gale Crest in short order. The Gale Crest increases the number of attacks you get by 1, and with the Goddess Crest equipped too, you do 2 more attacks. This is one dungeon where using the White Dragon Wings would be seriously to your advantage. Or Lucia's Pendant, either one works. [EPBRAVE] Brave Dungeon Monsters: Lady Charme, Heat Fang, Living Sword, Wicked Wood Items: Hero's Talisman This place is psycho. Fight if you want, it doesn't really matter if you do or not. There are switches inlaid in the floor of the first area, and you need to hit them all. But their triggers seem to not be quite on the switches... Anyway, the next area sports five doorways, each requiring you to trigger the proper guardian in each entryway (only one per entry!). If you get the wrong one, you have to fight a monster group. I've outlined the pattern below: Layout: (D=doorway) 1 2 D 3 4 Which to activate: 2, 3, 1, 4, 3 The final area before the last room is an area with spikes in the floor that shoot up at you. You can theoretically avoid taking any damage from them by picking the right path (marked by which statue is holding a spear on the walls), but they do so little damage that it's not worth the effort. Just rush forward until you reach the boss room. Heal up, because that chest is a boss! The Hero Talisman is a deceptively easy boss, though. Focus on attacking it, but use attacks that hit it's sub parts, too. It generates new sub-parts afer a few turns regardless of whether the existing ones are dead or not. Once you defeat this boss, you get the best accessory in the game: the Hero's Talisman! It gives you the ability to cast the equivalent of Lemina's Power Drive on all allies, and for a mere 1 MP! AND it makes the wearer take half damage from all attacks! [EPLOSTLAB] Lost Labyrinth Monsters: Axeman, Gramwalker, Jack Attack, Sable Slime Items: Alex's Ocarina This place is deceptively easy, but it's also easy to get lost in here. Remember, if all else fails use the White Dragon Wings! (I swear people forget that they even have those things a good deal of the time...) The path is as follows: Entrance - No explaination needed, I should hope... First area - South, east, east Second area - South, west, west, south Third area - South, south, east Fourth area - West, west Fifth area - North, north The bosses of the Lost Labyrinth are the trio of power: the Knight, Angel, and Mage Guardians. Each has 7,000 HP. The Knight is weak against all magic, the Angel weak against all physical attacks, and the Mage is neutral to both physical and magical attacks. Once you defeat them, you can get Alex's Ocarina, which lets you listen to any song in the game (except the two songs with lyrics). [EPLIONHD] Lionhead Monsters: Dark Eye, Mummy Lord, Mutant Turtle, Working Stiff Items: Fantasy Ribbon, Holy Shield, Miracle Bandanna, Healing Ring, Lunn's Armlet, Fierce Fist, Silver Light, Hiro's Bromide This place is a pain in the arse. The enemies love to mute and paralyze the party, which is bad. Get a few Noisy Amulets (seeing as being mute is more deadly than being paralyzed, at this stage of the game), and equip everybody with them. Generally try to avoid combat (tricky, I know), and make your way up to the top floor. You may need 20 Star Lights to make it to the top, so be sure to stock up in Vane. The boss, fortunately, is a total push-over. It has a weakness for magic, and I'm sure you'll have plenty of magic to deal with it by now. The treasures it protects are not really worth that much (a Silver Light, a Healing Ring, and the Fierce Fist). But the Fierce Fist can kill enemies in one blow, so you might as well fight the boss. [EPWATERR] Water Ruins Monsters: Black Brain, Dark Doll, Digester, Gorgonka Items: Saint Clothes, Goddess Armor, Sage Robe, Dragon Helm, Life Jewel, Berzerker Claw, Silver Light, Left Sapphire Jewel This dungeon's monsters are somewhat harder than most of the monsters in this game, but not TOO hard, at least. The trick to this dungeon is to turn on all of the glowing switches, and make your way down to the final floor. Note that you actually don't have to fight the Water Guardian! The panel on the opposite side of the stairs on the bottom floor of the Water Ruins leads to a secret passage that goes straight to the dragon eye jewels. Anyway, if you choose to fight the Water Guardian despite this, look below. The boss of the cave, the Water Guardian, is weak against fire and thunder, so equip and prepare accordingly. It's bound to trap Hiro in an inpenetrable water bubble, so don't even bother to heal him or power him up. The guardian has a fair amount of HP, but if you're at least level 55 or so, you should do fine. The treasure of the Water Ruins is one of the two Dragon Eyes. [EPDRAGONR] Dragon Ruins Monsters: Cannonfoot, Goliath, Shellshredder, Shock Sphere Items: Justice Rod, Silver Light, Lion Helm, Dragon Armor, Archer Crest, Goddess Armlet, Scarlet Wrap The game started at these. The monsters within are very weak, but (I'm guessing here) are probably very fast. I'm not certain, I went through it with 10 Chiro Crests equipped. I'm just a bit crazy, aren't I? Anyway, the path up is pretty straightforward, actually. The boss, however, is no push-over. I don't know if there's a secret path to bypass the boss, but it LOOKS like there should be. Anyway, back to the boss. It has a rather cruel attack sequence of sucking your allies closer to it, and then using a close-ranged attack on them that does massive damage. Once it does it's sucking attack, be sure to use defend to move away from big n' ugly! Or, even better, have Lemina cast White Dragon Protect. His HP is respectable, but a few Triple Swords and a bit of preparation should turn him into a pasty goo. I hope you have the Rememberizer by now, because if you don't you'll have to go back through this dungeon AGAIN to record the first two FMV's of the game! Get the eye jewel, and get out of the dungeon (fast-type, with the White Dragon Wings, of course). [EPSTARDT] Star Dragon Tower Monsters: Master Mirror, Steel Soldier, Bronze Creep, Bomb Angel Items: None You need to at least conquer the Water and Dragon Ruins to enter this spot. Now THIS is truly a last dungeon. Monsters give exp., but no Silver. Head on up, and try to avoid encounters. There are eight floors in all, and on the seventh floor, the Star Dragon awaits. He's a real push-over, if your level is at least 60, but you have to fight him as Hiro alone. I do hope you have some Healing Nuts handy, as well as a Passion Fruit or two (if you're at low levels). Defeating this boss is easy, if you stick to Triple Sword and healing Hiro when his HP gets low. At level 99 with a Healing Ring, you won't even need to heal, and can beat this bad boy in 4 rounds if you have the Goddess and Warrior Crests equipped. Indeed, at level 99, you can beat this boss without anything equipped at all. After that, it's very straightforward. get), and where you can find them. For more details on locating items, see the walkthrough! II. Monsters This is just a brief overview of every monster in Lunar 2, and the best method to get rid of each of them. Monsters marked with * can only be encountered for a brief time, and then never again. ** indicates a special boss fight monster. Monster: Dung Beetle Locations: Desert Pass Attacks: Regular attack Exp/Silver/Item: 1 exp, 1 silver, Herb Strategy: Not difficult. A regular attack should be sufficient to kill them with any weapon, and at any level. Monster: Sand Shark Locations: Desert Pass Attacks: Regular attack (fin showing), sonic wave (head showing) Exp/Silver/Item: 2 exp, 2 silver, Herb Strategy: Also fairly easy to deal with. Their sonic wave attack is uni- ranged, so you can't just sit back defending and expect them to approach you. Monster: Sand Cyclops Locations: Desert Pass Attacks: Regular attack (above ground), power attack (below ground) Exp/Silver/Item: 3 exp, 4 silver, Herb Strategy: If you encounter one, kill it first. They're the most deadly monster in the Desert Pass. Monster: Slime Locations: Blue Labyrinth, Blue Spire Attacks: Regular attack Exp/Silver/Item: 1 exp, 1 silver, Herb Strategy: They're not tough, and you can beat them fairly quickly with physical attacks, so don't fret too much if you encounter them. Monster: Mummy Locations: Blue Labyrinth Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), spin strike (jumping) Exp/Silver/Item: 6 exp, 5 silver, Herb Strategy: Ignore these things, and target the Bandage Boy that comes with them. Monster: Bandage Boy Locations: Blue Labyrinth Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), spin strike (jumping) Exp/Silver/Item: 0 exp, 1 silver, Herb Strategy: Focus your attacks on this monster when you encounter them and Mummies, as killing them kills all of the mummies, too. Monster: Brainpicker Locations: Blue Labyrinth Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), fireball (head-mouth moving) Exp/Silver/Item: 4 exp, 9 silver, Herb Strategy: If you encounter them, try to kill them fast. They're the most deadly enemy in the Blue Labyrinth (which isn't saying much). Monster: Magic Masque Locations: Blue Spire Attacks: Regular attack (twirling around), defense down (chanting) Exp/Silver/Item: 1 exp, 3 silver, Herb Strategy: Just let them be for the first round, and focus on the more dangerous enemies. They're not difficult at all. Monster: Crystal Knight Locations: Blue Spire Attacks: Teleport stab (pointing downwards), magic ball (pointing outwards) Exp/Silver/Item: 6 exp, 15 silver, Herb Strategy: Get rid of them quick, they're the Blue Spire's second-most dangerous enemy. Monster: Bomb Angel Locations: Blue Spire Attacks: Regular attack (pointing forward), cannon shot (pointing up, barrel glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 3 exp, 8 silver, Herb Strategy: They're the highest-HP monsters in the tower, so aim for getting rid of them first. Monster: Ochre Ooze Locations: Larpa Tunnel Attacks: Regular attack Exp/Silver/Item: 2 exp, 5 silver, Herb Strategy: Attack them regularly; they're not much better than regular old Slimes. Monster: Killer Fly Locations: Larpa Tunnel, Starlight Forest, Illusion Forest Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing) poison bomber (spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 6 exp, 13 silver, Purity Herb Strategy: Focus on killing these monsters quick if they're spinning; otherwise, they're harmless Monster: Desert Dolphin Locations: Larpa Pass Attacks: Regular attack (fin above sand), sonic wave (head above sand) Exp/Silver/Item: 2 exp, 2 silver, Herb Strategy: They're almost as weak as Sand Sharks, so don't worry about them. Monster: Poison Beetle Locations: Larpa Pass Attacks: Regular attack x2 Exp/Silver/Item: 3 exp, 11 silver, Purity Herb Strategy: These monsters can (and frequently do) poison allies when they attack. They're also the fastest monsters in the pass, so be wary. Monster: Scorpion Locations: Larpa Pass Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), poison tail (tail twitching) Exp/Silver/Item: 12 exp, 42 silver, Purity Herb Strategy: They're tough, but they also give good experience. It's a fair trade, really. Monster: Private* Locations: Dragonship Destiny Attacks: Regular attack (sword pointed down), guard (holding shield up) Exp/Silver/Item: 35 exp, 50 silver, Iron Shield Strategy: These guys are fairly easy to defeat. They literally waste their turns frequently when defending, as they are not immune to skills when they do defend. Monster: Captain* Locations: Dragonship Destiny Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), spin strike (spinning spear) Exp/Silver/Item: 40 exp, 60 silver, Chainmail Strategy: Focus on killing these guys quickly, as their spin strike attack can really hurt. Monster: Green Goblin Locations: Starlight Forest, Illusion Woods Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), call help (raising and lowering arms) Exp/Silver/Item: 4 exp, 6 silver Strategy: You can kill these guys very easily, and without techniques. You may even want to let them summon help, so you can get more experience from the battle. Monster: Hummingbyrd Locations: Starlight Forest, Illusion Woods Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), HP absorb (flapping wings rapidly, upright) Exp/Silver/Item: 16 exp, 32 silver, Herb Strategy: Focus on getting rid of these guys quick, as their HP-absorbing ability makes them a real pain in the arse. Monster: Killer Fly Locations: Starlight Forest Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), deadly dish (spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 6 exp, 13 Silver, Purity Herb Strategy: Unless there's a Hummingbyrd present, get rid of them first. They can and will poison you if they're spinning around. Monster: Hobgoblin Locations: Illusion Woods Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), power swipe (swinging club over head) Exp/Silver/Item: 15 exp, 14 silver, Herb Strategy: Hit them fast and hard, as they're significantly more dangerous than Green Goblins. Monster: Goblin King Locations: Illusion Woods Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), power up (staff raised over head) Exp/Silver/Item: 44 exp, 60 silver, Angel's Tear Strategy: If you encounter them, get rid of them quick! They can increase attack power for all of their allies! Monster: Banshee Fowl Locations: Takkar Pass Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), poison breath (flapping wings) Exp/Silver/Item: 7 exp, 7 silver, Holy Water Strategy: Get rid of them in an orderly fashion. They're not tough, as long as you're at the right level. Monster: Rufus Locations: Takkar Pass Attacks: Regular attack (flexing), thunderbolt (horns flashing) Exp/Silver/Item: 22 exp, 32 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: Get rid of them, fast! They're the most powerful enemies in the pass, and they know it. Monster: Death Worm Locations: Takkar Pass Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), suck closer (spitting gas) Exp/Silver/Item: 28 exp, 27 silver Strategy: Don't worry about these guys too much, they're not very strong. If anything, they help you out by pulling your allies closer, thus removing the need to run up to smack them. Monster: Mud Cyclops Locations: Takkar Pass Attacks: Regular attack (above ground), thwack (under ground) Exp/Silver/Item: 17 exp, 21 silver Strategy: They're annoying, but not too hard to dispose of. I'd suggest getting rid of them first, unless there's a Rufus present. Monster: Rolling Imp Locations: Ghost Manor Attacks: Regular attack (rolling in place), head shot (standing in place) Exp/Silver/Item: 14 exp, 10 silver, Holy Water Strategy: They're not very tough at all, but they can be annoyingly fast. They're the weakest monster in the area, though, so you can take care of them last with little worry. Monster: Susie Death Locations: Ghost Manor Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), MP absorb (holding straw) Exp/Silver/Item: 20 exp, 14 silver, Cute Ribbon Strategy: They're nigh immune to physical attacks, but weak against sleep. Take care of them first. Monster: Knuckle Buster Locations: Ghost Manor Attacks: Regular attack x2 Exp/Silver/Item: 60 exp, 100 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: Don't let their weak attack power fool you, they have plenty of HP, and extremely high defense (for the area, anyway). They're not a huge concern, though. Monster: Maneater Locations: Bandit's Butte Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), paralysis bite (mouth opening and closing widely) Exp/Silver/Item: 23 exp, 19 silver Strategy: They're annoying, but mercifully slow. Taking them out should be a fairly high priority. Monster: Killer Buzz Locations: Bandit's Butte Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), paralysis sting (stinger twitching back and forth) Exp/Silver/Item: 23 exp, 19 silver, Cleansing Water Strategy: Fast and frenzied. Defeat them first, if you possibly can. Monster: Parasite Locations: Bandit's Butte Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), energy balls (tentacles moving quickly) Exp/Silver/Item: 23 exp, 78 silver Strategy: They're resistant to physical attacks, but essentailly weak against all magic, so destroying them is no biggy. Monster: Killer Shroom Locations: Bandit's Butte Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), poison mist (expelling pollen) Exp/Silver/Item: 25 exp, 17 silver, Herb Strategy: They're not tough to defeat, and they're slow. Handle them as you see fit. Monster: Reflector Locations: Mystic Ruins Attacks: Regular attack x2 (spinning horizontally), energy shot (spinning vertically) Exp/Silver/Item: 27 exp, 45 silver, Vitality Vial Strategy: These guys are the weaklings of the Mystic Ruins. A quick dose of Moth Dance usually disposes of them. Monster: Persona Locations: Mystic Ruins Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), mask trap (two smaller masks floating around it) Exp/Silver/Item: 39 exp, 28 silver, Silver Hairpin Strategy: These guys are severe pains, but weak versus all magic types. Take them down as fast as you can. Monster: Masquerade Locations: Mystic Ruins Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), defense down (chanting) Exp/Silver/Item: 28 exp, 32 silver, Vitality Vial Strategy: Kill them on the second round, if you can't manage it during the first. They're minor threats. Monster: Dark Knight Locations: Mystic Ruins Attacks: Teleport stab (pointing downwards), magic ball (pointing outwards) Exp/Silver/Item: 47 exp, 96 silver, Silver Gauntlet Strategy: Get rid of them as best you can. They have a lot of HP, so be sure to focus the majority of your attacks at them. Monster: Barbarian Locations: Zulan Mountain Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), fire breath (breathing in and out) Exp/Silver/Item: 33 exp, 65 silver, Fur Dress Strategy: They're weak against fire (as is everything on the mountain), so getting rid of them is a cinch. Monster: Wyburn (sic) Locations: Zulan Mountain Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), wing wind (flapping wings) Exp/Silver/Item: 21 exp, 24 silver Strategy: They're easy enough, if a bit annoying. Don't let them get on your nerves. Monster: Razor Wolf Locations: Zulan Mountain Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), razor wheel (spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 68 exp, 137 silver, Fur Dress Strategy: Get rid of these guys, fast! They can wreak havoc on a party with their razor wheel attack! Monster: Albino Baboon Locations: Zulan Mountain Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), snowball (digging in snow) Exp/Silver/Item: 26 exp, 28 silver, Fur Robe Strategy: They're not very strong, nor very worthy of effort. Deal with them however you wish. Monster: Tormentor Locations: Taben's Peak Attacks: Regular attack x2 (rolling in place), head shot (standing in place) Exp/Silver/Item: 36 exp, 54 silver Strategy: These guys can poison you (annoyingly enough), and they're very fast, but they're really not all that high in the HP department. Monster: Dream Leech Locations: Taben's Peak Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), MP absorber (holding straw) Exp/Silver/Item: 56 exp, 100 silver, Cute Ribbon Strategy: If you encounter them, get rid of them quick. They can absorb a lot of MP. Monster: Magic Hat Locations: Taben's Peak Attacks: Regular attack (jester visible), energy beams (jester hidden) Exp/Silver/Item: 90 exp, 221 silver, Steel Helm Strategy: They're immune to physical attacks, but not skills or spells. Do away with them as fast as possible. Monster: Octo Plant Locations: Taben's Peak Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), poison bite (mouth opening and closing widely) Exp/Silver/Item: 33 exp, 49 silver, Purity Herb Strategy: They're not a huge threat, so don't fret over them unless there's nothing stronger left on the battlefield. Monster: Fatal Hopper* Locations: Meribia Sewers Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), hop strike (hopping up and down) Exp/Silver/Item: 35 exp, 29 silver, Cleansing Water Strategy: They're annoying, but unlike Lunar 1, they're not truly all that fatal. Monster: Grog Snake* Locations: Meribia Sewers Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), poison bite (gnashing jaws) Exp/Silver/Item: 48 exp, 52 silver Strategy: Not tough at all. Deal with them last, if you encounter them with other monsters. Monster: Gunfoot* Locations: Meribia Sewers Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), eye beam (eye glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 62 exp, 98 silver Strategy: They're only really dangerous if they're getting ready to shoot their eye beam (which they usually are). Monster: Ammonia* Locations: Meribia Sewers Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), razor wheel (spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 69 exp, 139 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: They're dangerous, to say the least, and they're nigh immune to physical attacks. Take them out quick, should you encounter them. Monster: Assassin** Locations: Meribia Sewer Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), flaming punch (burning) Exp/Silver/Item: 320 exp, 400 silver Strategy: They're weak against poison, so you can deal them a somewhat fatal blow by using Butterfly Dance on them. Otherwise, just keep your HP up, and they won't pose any real threat. Monster: Giga Wasp Locations: Cave of Trial Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), sleep powder (powder beneath it's feet) Exp/Silver/Item: 40 exp, 34 silver Strategy: They're the least threatening thing in the Cave of Trial, but they can be annoying in their constant putting party members to sleep. Do away with them quickly. Monster: Death Shroom Locations: Cave of Trial Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), pollen zone (exuding pollen) Exp/Silver/Item: 68 exp, 99 silver, Holy Water Strategy: They're not a huge threat, but they can do some considerable damage if you're not careful. Monster: Bat Knight Locations: Cave of Trial Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), shock dive (covered with some electricity) Exp/Silver/Item: 86 exp, 48 silver, Bejeweled Hairpin Strategy: They're not a big threat, but then, nothing in the Cave of Trial is. Monster: Giga Ant Locations: Sluice Forest Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), ant fang (head moving up and down) Exp/Silver/Item: 64 exp, 52 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: They're annoyingly hard to kill, since their defense is so high. Use techniques to get rid of them fast. Monster: Flytrapper Locations: Sluice Forest Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), poison bite (mouth opening and closing widely) Exp/Silver/Item: 52 exp, 107 silver Strategy: They're not difficult at all to get rid of, as long as your characters aren't paralyzed due to Killer Wasp stings. Monster: Killer Wasp Locations: Sluice Forest Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), paralysis sting (stinger moving up and down) Exp/Silver/Item: 88 exp, 298 silver, Holy Water Strategy: They're too fast to kill right off the bat, when you first arrive in the Sluice Forest. Even so, get rid of them as soon as you can. Monster: Bloodbyrd Locations: Sluice Forest Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), HP absorb (flying upright) Exp/Silver/Item: 102 exp, 319 silver, Angel's Tear Strategy: Kill them quick, so they can't steal your allies' HP. They're not as critical as getting rid of the Killer Wasps, but almost as much so. Monster: Inferno Ghoul Locations: Azado, Red Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), flame field (chanting) Exp/Silver/Item: 180 exp, 22 silver Strategy: Kill them quick with Leo's Grizzle Blade attack. Monster: Flight Knight* Locations: Goddess Image Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), shock dive (electricity coming off of it) Exp/Silver/Item: 61 exp, 49 silver Strategy: They're almost difficult, but not quite. They won't give you much trouble. Monster: Dieclops* Locations: Goddess Image Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), paralysis beam (eye opening and closing) Exp/Silver/Item: 72 exp, 49 silver, Purity Herb Strategy: Get rid of them quick, so they can't paralyze your party members. Monster: Nipple Yanker* (ouch) Locations: Goddess Image Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), fireball (holding glowing staff up) Exp/Silver/Item: 61 exp, 47 silver, Angel's Tear Strategy: They're annoying, but not tough to get rid of, and not exactly a huge threat (despite what their nasty name may suggest). Monster: Electro Eye* Locations: Goddess Image Attacks: Regular attack (electricity coming off of it), field shock (eyes visible) Exp/Silver/Item: 99 exp, 127 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: Kill these guys as fast as you can! They're incredibly dangerous to the party, especially if they're about to use their field shock ability. Monster: Corp. Crusher* Locations: Pentagulia Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), spin hit (spinning spear over head) Exp/Silver/Item: 93 exp, 27 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: Attack them regularly, or use techniques. They aren't the toughest monster in the area. Monster: Flash Lord* Locations: Pentagulia Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), shock attack (staff glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 90 exp, 41 silver, Holy Water Strategy: Hardly a huge threat, take them out at your lesiure Monster: Flame Reaper* Locations: Pentagulia Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), fire breath (breathing flames) Exp/Silver/Item: 93 exp, 18 silver Strategy: They're dangerous as it is, but not too hard to dispose of. Just be sure to get rid of the flame-breathing ones first, they can do a lot of damage with that attack. Monster: Gargoyle* Locations: Pentagulia Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), power swipe (sword glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 90 exp, 19 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: Since they're nigh immune to physical attacks, use magic to get rid of them. They're not a huge threat, but they can be dangerous when grouped with Flame Reapers. Monster: Mercenary* Locations: Pentagulia Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), smash blow (swinging morning star) Exp/Silver/Item: 93 exp, 29 silver, Herb Strategy: Unless they're swinging their weapon around, don't worry about them. They're not a big threat. Monster: Assassin* Locations: Pentagulia Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), flaming rush (glowing with energy) Exp/Silver/Item: 90 exp, 22 silver, Herb Strategy: Just like the other assassins from before. They're a bit pesky, but much weaker (fortunately). Monster: Shiro Mongrel Locations: White Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), throwing guts (mane rising and falling) Exp/Silver/Item: 139 exp, 181 silver, Shiro Crest Strategy: They're fast, especially early on, so you'll want to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Their throwing guts skill can cause an ally to become paralyzed, so beware! Monster: Chiro Mongrel Locations: White Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), do nothing (doing nothing), run away (doing nothing) Exp/Silver/Item: 33333 exp, 11111 silver, Chiro Crest Strategy: Don't expect to be able to kill them early on, they're immune to everything, and they have high defense to boot. Follow the "getting to level 99 on disc 2" strategy at the end of this guide if you really want to defeat them. They're 66% likely to run away. Monster: Mech Star Locations: White Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), star orb (orb rotating around it) Exp/Silver/Item: 192 exp, 222 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: They were a pain in Lunar 1, but they're really easy to avoid fighting in Lunar 2. If you do fight them, try to get rid of them fairly quick, as those star orbs hurt. A lot. Monster: Yeti Locations: White Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), snowball barrage (digging) Exp/Silver/Item: 149 exp, 124 silver Strategy: They're fairly easy to take out, and can be poisoned. Usually, they don't pose much of a threat at all. Monster: Mutant Fly Locations: White Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), poison dive (spinning around) Exp/Silver/Item: 113 exp, 134 silver, Holy Water Strategy: If they're spinning, try to get rid of them quick. Otherwise, focus on the stronger enemies in the group first. Monster: Wolf Guard* Locations: Zen Zone (tournament) Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), dive attack (flexing about) Exp/Silver/Item: 273 exp, 0 silver Strategy: Have Hiro and Jean do their best single-enemy attacks on one wolf at a time. They're the easiest of the Zen Zone enemies. Monster: Flash Ninja* Locations: Zen Zone (tournament) Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing) Exp/Silver/Item: 339 exp, 0 silver Strategy: They can poison your allies, so try to dispose of them as quickly as possible (via your best spells and skills). Monster: Shadow Assassin* Locations: Zen Zone (tournament) Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), flaming rush (glowing with energy) Exp/Silver/Item: 563 exp, 0 silver Strategy: They're actually pretty easy. Focus on getting rid of one at a time. Monster: Tiger Shark Locations: Blue Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), sonic wave (head above ground) Exp/Silver/Item: 192 exp, 192 silver Strategy: Unless their heads are popping up, don't worry too much about them. Of course, like most enemies in the Blue Dragon Cave, a dose of Battallion Sword or Blue Dragon Kick should be able to get rid of any group that they appear in. Monster: Water Elemental Locations: Blue Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), muting attack (mouth moving) Exp/Silver/Item: 163 exp, 150 silver, Holy Water Strategy: As with above, you can usually take them out with either Blue Dragon Kick or Battallion Sword. Be aware that they're faster than the Tiger Sharks, and might hit before Hiro can move. Monster: Doom Rigger Locations: Blue Dragon Cave Attacks: Slug shot (head cover opening and closing), run away (doing nothing) Exp/Silver/Item: 3000 exp, 1000 silver, Holy Water Strategy: They always launch 7 Scurvy Slugs on their first turn, and always run away on their second turn. If you're well-leveled (or have two Chiro Crests), you can take them down with the minimum of hassle. Monster: Scurvy Slug Locations: Blue Dragon Cave (launched by Doom Riggers) Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing) Exp/Silver/Item: 73 exp, 0 silver Strategy: They can poison you with their regular attack, and although they aren't strong, they have the advantage of numbers. Use an all-hitting spell to dispose of them quick. Monster: Aqua Assassin Locations: Blue Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), line swipe (sword glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 332 exp, 260 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: Get rid of them first, if you encounter them. They have the most HP of all enemies in this cave, so be aware that the Battallion Sword/Blue Dragon Kick trick will probably not kill them. Monster: Big Boomba Locations: Zaback Mines Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), explode (jumping up and down) Exp/Silver/Item: 260 exp, 164 silver, Cleansing Water Strategy: Freeze Claw/Freeze Smash makes short work of pretty much any enemy in this area that you run into, as will regular physical attacks. Monster: Boomba Baby Locations: Zaback Mines Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), explode (fuse lit) Exp/Silver/Item: 149 exp, 84 silver Strategy: See above. Monster: Boomba Boy Locations: Zaback Mines Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), explode (fuse lit) Exp/Silver/Item: 187 exp, 127 sIlver Strategy: See above. Monster: Elder Boomba Locations: Zaback Mines Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), explode (fuse lit) Exp/Silver/Item: 538 exp, 275 silver, Holy Water Strategy: See above. Monster: Dark Lord Locations: Neo Trial Cave Attacks: Regular Attack (doing nothing), energy blast (staff flashing) Exp/Silver/Item: 188 exp, 167 silver Strategy: They're not really all that dangerous, compared to other enemies in the area. Deal with them via all-hitting magic attacks. Monster: Gorgon Locations: Neo Trial Cave Attacks: Regular Attack (doing nothing), eye beam (blinking teeth) Exp/Silver/Item: 538 exp, 266 silver, Gorgon Doll Strategy: These guys are some of the more dangerous enemies in the area. Dispose of them promptly. Monster: Rock Biter Locations: Neo Trial Cave Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), poison sting (tail twitching) Exp/Silver/Item: 177 exp, 149 silver, Purity Herb Strategy: These are one of the few enemies weak against Concussion Sword, so that's one way to dispose of them quickly. Another is to use any elemental spell that's not thunder-based. These guys are seriously not a big threat. Monster: Scream Sphere Locations: Neo Trial Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), flame blast (faces glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 338 exp, 266 silver, Holy Water Strategy: These are the most dangerous monsters in the Neo Trial Cave, meaning that disposing of them takes top priority. They have no weaknesses at all, and are immune ot all status conditions. Monster: Zombie Locations: Black Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), tentacle smash (tentacles coming out of their skulls) Exp/Silver/Item: 209 exp, 0 silver, Cleansing Water Strategy: They're weak against physical attacks, but strong against all else. They're only really dangerous if they're about to use their special attack on you. Monster: Soul Yanker Locations: Black Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), energy ball (staff glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 251 exp, 262 silver Strategy: Low-priority enemies, much like their Nipple Yanker bretheren were. Monster: Webhead Locations: Black Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), HP absorb (fins flapping) Exp/Silver/Item: 320 exp, 247 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: Get rid of them fast with any elemental single-target spell. They're only a priority if they're preparing to absorb HP. Monster: Chaos Fiend Locations: Black Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), energy rain (holding staff high) Exp/Silver/Item: 666 exp, 333 silver, Star Light Strategy: Get rid of these guys first thing! Their energy rain attack hits all allies, and their regular attack is very powerful. Monster: Blyzzer Locations: Serak Palace Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), razor wheel (spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 443 exp, 261 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: As with their Razor Wolf bretheren, these guys take priority on the kill-first list only if they're spinning. Otherwise, there are much more dangerous enemies to take care of. Monster: Arrow Fish Locations: Serak Palace Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), beam gun (front cannon glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 291 exp, 137 silver Strategy: They're low-priority; worry about them last. They're not very dangerous, even if they do have a line-based attack. Monster: Archmage Locations: Serak Palace Attacks: Unknown (I have to be honest, I've never had them take a single turn against me) Exp/Silver/Item: 301 exp, 193 silver, Cleansing Water Strategy: Deal with them in an orderly fashion. They don't seem to be very strong, and certainly don't have much HP. Monster: Necromancer Locations: Serak Palace Attacks: Unknown (as with the Archmage, I never let them get a single hit in on me) Exp/Silver/Item: 793 exp, 373 silver, Star Light Strategy: Uh, I'm guessing they're dangerous, so take them out first. Monster: Blood Slime Locations: Red Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack Exp/Silver/Item: 243 exp, 102 silver, Holy Water Strategy: These guys are seriously annoying. They are immune to EVERYTHING that is not ice-based magic. This means that Lemina is your only character who can really damage them. If you don't have two Chiro Crests equipped on her, then you'll likely take a bit of a beating before she can kill them. Monster: Pyromaniac Locations: Red Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), flame field (holding flames close) Exp/Silver/Item: 415 exp, 203 silver, Angel's Tear Strategy: Get rid of them first if they're getting ready to use their special tech. Otherwise, don't worry about them. Monster: Inferno Ghoul Locations: Red Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), flame wave (chanting) Exp/Silver/Item: 386 exp, 226 silver, Herb Strategy: If they're going to use their flame wave attack, get rid of them first. Otherwise, they're still somewhat high priority, though Flame Berzerkers are more important to dispose of first. Monster: Flame Berzerker Locations: Red Dragon Cave Attacks: Regular Attack x2 (doing nothing), sword beam (sword glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 796 exp, 348 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: As with their Aqua Assassin bretheren, these guys can be very dangerous, especially if they're going to use their sword beam attack. Get rid of them pronto if you encounter them. Monster: Plasma Prism Locations: Althena's Road Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), energy ball (glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 534 exp, 121 silver Strategy: They're not really all that dangerous, but they do hold the distinction of being one of the only enemies in the tower that are not strong against physical attacks. Monster: Statue Soldier Locations: Althena's Road Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), sword swipe (holding sword up) Exp/Silver/Item: 708 exp, 262 silver, Healing Nut Strategy: They're weak against all magic, and none too dangerous, so you can safely leave them to Lemina to handle. Just remember that their HP is high enough that they may survive Lemina's attack. Monster: Stone Creep Locations: Althena's Road Attacks: No idea (I seriously can't remember what they do) Exp/Silver/Item: 588 exp, 183 silver, Cleansing Water Strategy: Uh, kill them with magic. I think they're a pretty big threat. Monster: Cannon Angel Locations: Althena's Road Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), cannon shot (cannon glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 943 exp, 453 silver, Holy Water Strategy: Get rid of them before they can attack. Cannon shot hurts, and their regular attack is not gentle. Monster: Snatcher Locations: Zophar's Keep, first area Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing) Exp/Silver/Item: 746 exp, 195 silver, Holy Water Strategy: I really don't remember these guys ever being dangerous. Leave them for last. Monster: Mecha Star Locations: Zophar's Keep, first area Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), energy ball (glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 624 exp, 216 silver Strategy: They're more dangerous than Snatchers, but not as dangerous as Hades or Crazy Crabs. It's your call. Monster: Crazy Crab Locations: Zophar's Keep, first area Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), energy rain (moving quickly) Exp/Silver/Item: 931 exp, 284 silver, Herb Strategy: Unless there's a Hades present, these guys are top priority to kill. They're not very strong, though; a single elemental attack should dispose of them. Monster: Hades Locations: Zophar's Keep, first area Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), fire blast (back flaming) Exp/Silver/Item: 1621 exp, 666 silver, Angel's Tear Strategy: Get rid of them, obviously! You'll have to focus everybody who can use elemental magic on them to get rid of them. Monster: (element) Seed Locations: Zophar's Keep, second area Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), elemental bomb (glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 777 exp, 0 silver Strategy: There are five types (Fire, Ice, Spark, Wind, and Lunar), but they all have the same basic stats. Their elemental weaknesses are exactly what their element would suggest. Monster: Mace Masher Locations: Zophar's Keep, second area Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), mace smash (swinging mace) Exp/Silver/Item: 662 exp, 262 silver, Herb Strategy: They're weak against non-attribute magic, so a quick dose of Shining Litany will usually kill them, as well as repair any damage they've done to you. Monster: Fiend Gate Locations: Zophar's Keep, second area Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), blast (mirror blank) Exp/Silver/Item: 2500 exp, 1000 silver, Star Light Strategy: These guys are REALLY dangerous! If their face isn't showing, get rid of them IMMEDIATELY! They have 666 HP, and are resistant to all non-elemental magic, as well as regular attacks. Monster: Wicked Wood Locations: Brave Dungeon Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), evade and counter (head spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 864 exp, 364 silver, Star Light Strategy: If they're set up to evade and counter, then don't hit them with non-tech attacks; instead, use your special skills. Monster: Heat Fang Locations: Brave Dungeon Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), razor wheel (spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 1400 exp, 1055 silver Strategy: Just your normal Razor Wolf-like enemy. They have a lot of HP, so you'll want to focus the brunt of your assault on them if they're the biggest threat present/ Monster: Living Sword Locations: Brave Dungeon Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), ??? (phasing in and out of existence) Exp/Silver/Item: 1280 exp, 872 silver Strategy: If they're phasing, kill them immediately. Otherwise, they take third priority in killing order, after Heat Fang and Lady Charme. Monster: Lady Charme Locations: Brave Dungeon Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), charm wave (wings closed) Exp/Silver/Item: 1700 exp, 2000 silver Strategy: They have high HP, and they can confuse your allies. Take a wild guess at why they should be killed first. Monster: Blood Wyburn (sic) Locations: Dragon's Nest Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), ??? (wings flapping) Exp/Silver/Item: 731 exp, 221 silver Strategy: They're hardly a threat. Deal with the Harpies and Dopplegangers first. Monster: Harpy Locations: Dragon's Nest Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), ??? (wings flapping) Exp/Silver/Item: 842 exp, 311 silver Strategy: Dispose of them quickly. They have annoying status ailment attacks. Monster: Doppleganger (becomes Death Doll when it transforms) Locations: Dragon's Nest Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), form change (glowing), (misc. character skills) Exp/Silver/Item: 1800 exp, 0 silver Strategy: Your top priority is to destroy these little bastards. They are especially deadly when they assume the form of your allies. Monster: Cannonfoot Locations: Dragon Ruins Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), eye beam (eye glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 930 exp, 241 silver Strategy: They're not a huge threat, unless they're preparing to fire their line-based eye beam cannon. Don't worry about them too much. Monster: Shellshredder Locations: Dragon Ruins Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), razor wheel (spinning) Exp/Silver/Item: 1070 exp, 500 silver Strategy: Like any of their kind, these things are most dangerous when they spin around. Dispose of them ASAP if they are. Otherwise, they're not a big threat. Monster: Shock Sphere Locations: Dragon Ruins Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), area shock (blinking rapidly) Exp/Silver/Item: 930 exp, 221 silver Strategy: Kill them as soon as you can, especially if they're preparing to use their area shock ability. Monster: Goliath Locations: Dragon Ruins Attacks: Normal attack x2 (doing nothing), thunder blast (horns glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 2200 exp, 500 silver Strategy: These are the most dangerous enemy in the Dragon Ruins, and that isn't saying much. Get rid of them first thing. Monster: Digester Locations: Water Ruins Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), HP absorb (fins flapping) Exp/Silver/Item: 930 exp, 341 silver Strategy: Kill them first if their fins are flapping; otherwise, they're no big deal. Monster: Gorgonka Locations: Water Ruins Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), eye beam (blinking teeth) Exp/Silver/Item: 2400 exp, 600 silver Strategy: A high-HP Gorgon. Get rid of them once nothing else remains on the field. Monster: Dark Doll Locations: Water Ruins Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), fire blast (holding a flame) Exp/Silver/Item: 930 exp, 262 silver Strategy: Get rid of them fast, and get rid of all of them if you possibly can before they get a turn. This is especially important if they're going to use their fire blast attack. Monster: Black Brain Locations: Water Ruins Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), flame field (mouths glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 1270 exp, 427 silver Strategy: The most dangerous in the area, Black Brains should be killed on sight, as they always start out using their all-hitting flame field attack. Monster: Axeman Locations: Lost Labyrinth Attacks: Unknown Exp/Silver/Item: 832 exp, 514 silver Strategy: I cannot provide any strategies for the Lost Labyrinth enemies, as I've never faced them off and had them actually get a turn in. Monster: Gramwalker Locations: Lost Labyrinth Attacks: Unknown Exp/Silver/Item: 932 exp, 732 silver Strategy: See above. Monster: Sable Slime Locations: Lost Labyrinth Attacks: Unknown Exp/Silver/Item: 2902 exp, 0 silver, Star Light Strategy: See above. Monster: Jack Attack Locations: Lost Labyrinth Attacks: Unknown Exp/Silver/Item: 1420 exp, 3277 silver Strategy: See above. Monster: Mummy Lord Locations: Lionhead Attacks: Regular attack x2 Exp/Silver/Item: 1500 exp, 647 silver Strategy: Much like the Mummy enemy in the Blue Spire did for the Bandage Boys, the Mummy Lord will kill all Working Stiffs once defeated. However, these guys are REALLY fast, and have very high HP. Don't expect an easy victory just because they look like one of the first enemies of the game. Monster: Working Stiff Locations: Lionhead Attacks: Regular attack x2 Exp/Silver/Item: 751 exp, 0 silver Strategy: Don't aim for them, tempting though it may be; killing the Mummy Lord will get rid of all of them. Monster: Mutant Turtle Locations: Lionhead Attacks: Unknown Exp/Silver/Item: 974 exp, 437 silver Strategy: They're pretty much immune to all physical attacks, so you'll have to use magic to defeat them. That's about all there is to say about these strange things. Monster: Dark Eye Locations: Lionhead Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), field shock (blinking) Exp/Silver/Item: 22222 exp, 893 silver, Legendary Lid Strategy: Augh! These are no laughing matter. They have hugely high HP, very sturdy defense, and have no weaknesses. Get rid of them as fast as humanly possible! Their field shock attack causes paralysis, which, by the way, can ensure your total defeat against these enemies. Avoid when possible, deal with when you have no choice. Monster: Master Mirror Locations: Star Dragon Tower Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), energy ball (glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 1200 exp, 0 silver Strategy: Yeah, they're mirrors. They're not tough. Deal with them last. Monster: Steel Soldier Locations: Star Dragon Tower Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), sword swipe (holding sword up) Exp/Silver/Item: 1600 exp, 0 silver Strategy: Take them out with elemental spells. They're not the biggest threat around. Monster: Bronze Creep Locations: Star Dragon Tower Attacks: Regular attack x2 (doing nothing), ??? (chanting) Exp/Silver/Item: 1300 exp, 0 silver Strategy: I'm guessing they're dangerous. Kill them quick. Monster: Bomb Angel Locations: Star Dragon Tower Attacks: Regular attack (doing nothing), cannon shot (cannon glowing) Exp/Silver/Item: 3000 exp, 0 silver Strategy: You've been fighting this type of enemy since the second dungeon. I think you can figure out well enough how to handle them by now. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =+=+=+=+=+= E X T R A =+=+=+=+=+= I. Tricks and Secrets [ETIPSECRT] GETTING TO LEVEL 99 ON DISC 2 - It's possible! ...But it's not easy, of course. Once you have access to the White Dragon Cave, steal at least two Chiro Crests from the Chiro Mongrels within (they're rare encounters at low levels, unfortunately). Hang on to them for now, though, and don't bother equipping them yet. Once you get to the Blue Dragon Cave, equip them on Jean, and face off the Doom Riggers in the cave until you reach level 52 or so (at least until you get Triple Sword). Once you reach that level, go back to the White Dragon Cave, and start killing Chiro Mongrels. It's tricky to do this, but you can kill at least one per turn for a while using Triple Sword, Blue Dragon Palm, Catastrophe, and so forth. This can be challenging, to say the least, and you might not succeed every time at first, but if you persevere, your damage rating will keep going up and the fights and frequency of Chiro Mongrels will go up as well. With this trick, you can be level 99 before you even reach the Black Dragon Cave! I suggest you equip Hiro and Jean with 2 Warrior Crests each (you can buy them in Horam). NOTE: You can wait until you get the Goddess Crest if you want, but you don't have to. I do suggest that you at least wait until you've gotten to Raculi so you can buy a Master Sword for Hiro, and a White Tiger Claw for Jean. Also, giving 2 Warrior Crests to Hiro and Jean, and a Warrior and Seal Crest to Ronfar, will make this a bit easier. Equip both Chiro Crests on Lemina, and have her cast Power Drive on Hiro, have Jean do Blue Dragon Palm, have Hiro use Triple Sword, and have Ronfar attack (equip both Luck Rings on him, and you'll get lots of critical hits). GETTING TO LEVEL 99 DURING THE EPILOGUE - This is far easier than above, since Leo ups your damage quota significantly. The enemy faced is the same as above, but the strategy is slightly different. Use Triple Sword, Blue Dragon Palm, Soul Blade, and Catastrophe. That should make short work of a single Chiro. II. GameShark Codes [EGAMESHRK] There aren't many codes for Lunar 2, surprisingly. For the most part, this is because Lunar 2 doesn't need them. There are plenty of codes out there, and most can be found at the indominatible www.cmgsccc.com.
